Since I'll be working the weekend and leaving for the hospital  early Monday morning I wanted to pack my bag on Friday. What item should I pack that you wish you had had, what must I not forgot?

I didn't take much at all. I had a robe and slippers to wear with the beautiful hospital gown, brush, and other personal care items, extra underwear, my own pillow, and my husband. I wore the same outfit home that I wore to the hospital. I did take some magazines but never looked at them. I had chapstick but never needed it. I hope that helps. Best of luck. Beth

I wore a dress to the hospital that didn't require me to wear a bra ...  I didn't want to have anything binding around my waist or midrif. That was a good idea.

I brought and used my toothbrush, mouthwash, and toothpaste.

I brought a robe, slippers, magazines and chapstick and never used them. Magazines were read by those who stayed with me though.

My husband brought in a small portable, battery operated fan ... I tend to run hot.

Remember to ask for a pillow to support your tummy when you get up and down from the bed. It really does help.

Do you have an angel yet ... We want to know how you are doing and an angel will stay in touch with whomever you want and post your progress.

Just yell if you need one. There are plenty of folks that can do it for you.

All the best,

Barb

Are you having your surgery at Rex? Do you want an angel?

If so, let me know. I'll be glad to help.

I packed light and was glad I did. I brought and used my crocs, toothbrush, deodorant and hair brush. I didnt bother with bringing any robes or gowns and just used what they had and was glad because my tube incision site was needing to be changed every few hours and it bled through all over those lovely hospital gowns but I just kept changing them with the endless supply they had. I brought chapstick and used it. I didnt bother bringing books or magazines and I was right.. I was so tired I wouldnt of read them. I was given my own theraupeutic pillow to keep and take home by the hospital. The best thing I brought was my hubby.. he was my own private nurse and Im so thankful I had him around to help me with anything and everything. I brought a lose pair of trackies to wear home and Im glad I did... it would of been painful to have jeans or something tight around the stomach where the incisions were. I also gained a few pounds from the fluids so the trackies were nice and loose and comfy. Good luck with everything!!!

I sported a pair of 3 X sweat pants and 3 X tshirt,,, slip on shoes ( and a couple pairs of socks MUST HAVE MY SOCKS ) , I did wear the bra there but not home, also on the underwear issue once I went in for surgery I never put them back on until days later at home. I did take my own gown but never took it from my bag, I just wore the one the hospital gave me along with a second gown backwards as a house coat, and that was fine for me. I did take 6 flavors of chap stick and I really enjoyed having them, I used each one several times a day, I would suggest you take a couple fruity flavors just in case. I am a reader, so I took my latest romance novel and my Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies book , and I did read lots. TAKE A PILLOW it will really make a difference on the ride home. Of course toothbrush and paste , no need to worry with dental floss , you wont need it as you will not be eating foods.  I must say it was not that bad for me , I was not overly impressed with the day nurse staff , but the younge girls on night shift were wonderful darlings.  And most of all WALK WALK WALK,,, it will really help you get better quick. Take care Loser

I took my own gowns and robes.. I hate wearing hospital gowns.  I also took my laptop to surf the net and watch DVDs.  I also took my hair dryer, makeup and personal stuff because I never leave home without them!  Oh yeah.. and my own pillow!
