Hello all........well I just want to type and if I get any responses then thank you in advance.  I have not had a a visit from "aunt flow"  in a year right?  Well I started lightly saturday.  It started out a little cramping but today OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tonight  I have had cramps from hell, with the   poking in  "Bubbles".  I have never hurt so bad, had me in tears.  Well tonight at work I have ruined 2 pairs of pants..................  Heavy flow!  Gone through 4 super plugs, and 5 super pads.  I am miserable. (sp?)  And I am craving stuff.  Thats not good.  I wasn't constantly eating today but its what I did eat when I ate. Wonder if anyone else goes through this and how they handle this................. Thank you

Unfortunately I've been like that for years :( The heavy flow SUCKS.  I have had days where I am in the bathroom at work every 10 mins checking myself like a pre-teen. And the cramps augh.

I also get diarhea and headaches, fun. The best thing that worked for me was a low dose bc pill. There are kinds you don't stop taking for that one week (very low dose during the 'off week') that helps keep it lighter - I think maybe yasmin or something was the name of it? I've gotten lucky in the past year to have had it calm down for me, but I don't know why.

Lexi -  Size 6-8 and holding.

You need to see your GYN and find out what is going on with your body.  There are also many things that can help with heavy periods now. But you do need to see a professional for advice..

I hadn't had a period in 5 years.  My doctor put me on provera to start it back because he said it wasn't healthy for a woman of child bearing age to go so long without one.  When it started again, I had one like you're talking about.  Soaking 2 overnight pads an hour for almost a week.  I called, he said that was normal when you haven't had one for so long.  It lasted longer than usual and was very very heavy.  In the end, it didn't stop like it was supposed to, so he had me lay down with my legs propped up higher than my hips and ice my whole pelvic area.  That stopped it. It's not time for that yet, from what you're saying.  I just wanted to share my experience with you.  Call your doctor and ask.  That's what he's paid for... Take care. Ellen

I was on Depo when I had surgery... had been for 2 years. After surgery I spotted some for about 2 weeks then it stopped. Well, after that each month I would get HORRIBLE pms and HORRIBLE cramps... no period thou.... I NEVER had an issue on depo before. At 5 months out I switched to oral birthcontrol instead (lo-ovoral) and have been fine since. I skip the sugar pill in the pack and only have a period 4 times a year (like seasonale... but this way was cheaper!). When I do get my period I am MISERABLE... horrible cramps, horrible PMS... the 'flo is really heavy... I have cravings, feel weak... its awful... I DREAD those 4 times of year.  Anyways... so yeah, I feel where you are comming from. My suggestion is to call the OB and get on some sort of BC to help with the symptons you are having. As for the eating part... I eat like CRAP for that week before my period... its only 1 week every three months... I swear the cramps feel MUCH better if I do... its like I have to feed the beast or it will act up more... everytime I have dropped weight from eating like crap for a week then going back to eating normal *shrug* go figure right?

I will have to second what nowmarg said, you need to seek the advice of a professional gyn on this.  I can tell you all sorts of stories that will have you running to your doctor like cysts on your ovaries, or dysplasia.  Abnormal uterine bleeding is not uncommon, and at the same time can be a sign of something much much more serious.  Please do not take this lightly, I was diagnosed with level 4 dysplasia when I was 19 years old... steps away from cervical cancer.. and no it was not HPV related.  Things can happen and they can also be stopped when caught early enough!  And if it is nothing then your piece of mind was worth the visit!  So, do not walk, run to your GYN!! ~Laura
