Onslow County area... Please read

I told my Doctor on Friday how the Southern Surgical Coordinator DIDNT SHOW UP AGAIN for the Onslow County support group. This has happened three times now and my Doctor just shook his head and told me I could do two things..

1. Drive all the way up to Greenville for the meetings at his office (no thanks to far)

2. Start our OWN group and meet someplace in town.

I need these meetings because I know that my hubby even though highly supportive of me would rather I have at least one other person to talk to about it LOL

So Onslow ladies... Ive talked to Nancy and she said lets do our own thing!!! we just need to pick a time and a place for next month and do it!!! any suggestions on where to meet? Im open to anything so we can at least get together and talk about everything. Let me know and lets get our support group going

If you are interested, you can contact OH and get training to become a support group leader through OH. The only reason I suggest it, is that they will provide you with a wealth of information. Just a thought

Good luck with your new group. I think it will go a long way toward helping all of you succeed in your quest for a successful and permanent weightloss and maintenance.

I dont have the time nor have the desire to be a support group leader. I just want our group that usually goes to the Onslow meeting to have a place to meet up because we keep showing up and the coordinator is no place to be found or is calling with some sort of excuse. Just to be around my fun group of friends is all the support I need and a place to talk about it its not my group.. its the ladies of Onslow Cos group!!!

Darcie,  Thanks for getting this going!  I would love to have a monthly get together.  I know it helps me to meet with other WLS'ers.  It doesn't matter to me where we meet, just please keep me posted.  I work weird hours as you all know but if I know ahead of time I can try to come in a little late or even take leave that night - woo hoo!!!!!!!!  lol!   I hope you're having a great weekend!!! Hi Darcie - I'm new to the onslow county area and i'm not firmilar with support people here.  I did have RNY in Concord and I had a bunch of support people up there that I met through work and such. However, here it doesn't seem to be as popluar from what I am seeing.  I used to go to to lunch with the group when I could fit it in.  I am not a huge support group kind of person though.  I'd be glad to talk with you or listen - I'm about 20 months post op.  I am by no means an expert just an experienced patient whose had some real issues and complications. Drop me a private message if you wanna talk.  I cannot committ to attending functions because i'm just not good with stuff like that.  Sorry. Jenn

I am not a support group leader, I am just trying to get my friends together so we can all meet up someplace and talk. The support group that is SUPPOSE to be going on is wishy washy and the person that runs it shows up WHEN she feels like it. We are going to meet up next month and so far the vote is Cracker Barrel Ill post more when I get the date.

Jenn, Please re-think about joining us sometime!  We still need to meet!  We're informal, just gals that sit and yak, and we need someone like you who's been post op. for awhile and can relate.  Think about it...pretty please?  Not to add, you need to get out and meet people here.....we're all transplants too!  Think about it. Since there are a couple of ladies in our Onslow County support group that dont want anything to do with me, I'm sure I'm not invited to this new support group. Shelly

Where on earth did you get this idea?  I think the women here in Onslow (and the surrounding area) are the best!  We do not send out private invitations......did you get invited to or attend the meetings at the hospital?  If you are sensing something though, always trust your instincts, or your gut, so to speak.....it would know better than I.
