WHEW!  This last few hours of WAITING is chewing on my nerves!  Chewing??  Where did that word come from?!?   Good lord, it's always food (or related) the way some of us think!!! LOL Been busy last night and earlier today with ECU events, but now that's over and I'm just waiting to go meet my family for that "last supper"... I picked Golden Corral... not somewhere I'd normally pick to go eat (I have expensive tastes being a personal chef!).  But this isn't a "normal" time!  Figured there I could get a spoon of this and that for the last time for a while... I've been a good girl all month leaving out those carbs and have lost 12 lbs just doing that, but I gotta be honest.  I could snort a loaf of bread up my nose right about NOW!   I'm a bread and milk gal... and my old friend "Bread" hasn't been around lately.  I might have to have a bite of of one of those big old rolls at the Corral tonight!  At the luncheon today, I sat and STARED  at the piece of what appeared to be chocolate pecan mousse cheesecake (that was pre-set on the banquet tables).  I'm not much of a sweet eater, but in my carbless state of mind, that is what I imagined that dessert to be. I skipped all the beautiful fresh fruit on the plate and asked the waitress to bring me some extra chicken salad if there was any (and she so kindly did).  Skipped the bread basket that passed around!  I was SOOOOOOOOO proud of me!!I wanted to save all cheats for SUPPER!!!!!!!!! I'm sorry for the ramblings... but like those of you who have gone before me, time is drawing nye, and the gal who is NEVER COLD is having shivers now and then. I miss my mama  at times like this, but I am comforted here in this hotel room with her picture on the desk beside me and her Bible... and knowing she is my guardian angel. She had ovarian cancer and that took her way too soon in 2 years time at the young age of 63 several years ago.  I only have one sister and her hubby/nephew and daddy, so my "family" is small. I find comfort in pulling out mama's snippets of paper with notes of comforting verses she turned to and reading those verses myself from the pages she marked in her Bible.   I have an army of family and friends praying for me (feel free to join the troops), my sister (who will be sitting alone waiting on me tomorrow) and my surgical team.  I know I will feel the warmth of my "army" tomorrow morning as I enter that cold OR! So, here I go to Wilson to meet the fam and bring my sister back here with me.  I'll check in later when we're back, so I hope I'll see some more encouraging notes from y'all.  I'm so glad I found this new "home" and look forward to a long life here with this new family!  To all you others having surgery tomorrow and Friday... HERE WE GO!  I cannot imagine how it is for so many folks who go alone to Mexico to have this surgery as I've read in several forums.  I just don't think I could EVER do that and I have the highest admiration for those folks... Alice, see you at Pitt!  I'll be the one running down the hall.    We'll have to make a trek around the place together Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.  (What time is your surgery Friday?  Mine's at 7:30 tomorrow AM!) And thanks to all of you who have PMed me too!    Back in a few...

Wendy here you go to the best thing you will ever do for your future. How wonderful you have your mothers picture with you and her bible. I belive she is going to be there with you all the way. Give yourself a big pat on your shoulders for becoming a hero because for the many of us who have decided to do this are all heros in our own right. God bless you and keep you. You can do this and in the future you can be of service to someone else who is about to take this journey too.                                                  Annie

It is never too late to be what you might have been.?

Wendy, love the post and all the little "smileys", tooooo cute!  Well, my nerves are still calm right now, but tomorrow may be another story.  Try to get some sleep tonight, but if you don't they will take care of that for you in the OR.  Hopefully they will give us plenty of the "I don't care medicine" aka versaid..... as Cheech and Chung used to say....that's some good SHEEEEETTTTT man..... My surgery is scheduled for 8:30 so I sure hope they find me a room before too late in the day.  Pitt is always backed up in gettng pts from the OR to a room.   Well, God's Speed my friend and i will be seeing you soon!  Alice
