What is it called when you get food stuck in your chest area, and have to drink something to make it come back up, and it may take a few times?  I do this about every other day......is the amount of times also normal compared to others?  Just wanting to know what to call this "thing" I do, and pretty well now, I've about got it timed.  Sad, huh?  Also, do any of you return to normal diet, or go on liquids after this? Is that what I've seen called "PBing?"  As in Productive Burping???

according to the lapband board thats 'productive burping' and i dont think you're sposed to drink when youre stuck but thats just from reading - are you chewing stuff into mush and taking really small bites?

Lexi -  Size 6-8 and holding.

I think it's called getting stuck.  I have had it happen to me a few times and it is definitely not pleasant.  I think it is associated with eating too much or too quickly.  I have sipped on some water to help flu**** down when it has happened to me.  Nancy, you should document how often this is happening and let your doctor know.  It is possible you have some sort of stricture that is creating an obstruction.  Try chewing more and taking tiny bites and maybe cutting down on you meal sizes.  That band just might be working for you!

Nancy -

I agree with Suzanne. Just go slow, chew, chew, chew and take really small bites. It does get better.

Yes, I think it's eating too fast and forgetting to chew.  This happens almost daily.  Today it was in a meeting, so I had to excuse myself.  Embarassing!  I really need to work on this, I'm afraid of slip-age.  BTW< got to move my ticker again! Nancy

Hey Nancy- I can't help but to wonder are you now truly feeling restriction after your 1st fill??? My "tightest" time for my band occurs about 7days after a fill and lasts for 4-6 weeks. The 1st time I was having such issues with PB's and sliming, I was not certain of the coorelation- now I KNOW that this is the time of most restriction! Last night- 8 days since my most recent fill, I could only eat ONE large shrimp- and even it got stuck! I have to then eat incredibly slower- chewing to a mush and then some more and be VERY AWARE that 3ounce is the MAX!!!! If I feel restriction- not a SINGLE more food- not even a nibble- then its past the point of no return. Currently I can not eat until lunch time- only tolerate my protein shakes and other fluids in the morning. I sure learned by trial and error after my 1st fill- now I get it and no longer have any doubts! Hope this helps- I tend to eat lots of soup and chili during this tight phase.... Love ya gurl! Sheila

I am a work in progress and I am committed to progress with the work ahead of me.....
