Lordy, I'll be glad when my roller coaster is at the gate! LOL SURGERY is ON for Thursday!

After posting this: http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/NC/a,messageboard/action,r eplies/board_id,4829/cat_id,4429/topic_id,3423871/ a few days ago, I've been waiting all weekend to chat with Dr. MacDonald today after he consulted with Gastro docs about my Barrett's Esophagus and Brunner's Gland.

I just knew from what I've gathered over the weekend that I'd need to get the Barrett's treated first and postpone my surgery, THEN get my surgery rescheduled.  But we just talked and I'm a GO for surgery Thursday.  I was so surprised by this and had my mind already programmed to be ready to change my date again!  He said the bypass could actually help with the Barrett's. So here I am re-programming one more time to HAVE surgery getting ready for it! Gotta run... took this opportunity to get those legal things done that shoulda been done long ago... will, POA and Medical POA and Living Will and have appt. in 30 minutes with my lawyer!  I'll check back in tonight and it's so great to see Mindy home and posting! Greenville, HERE I COME Thursday morn... Actually I'll toot my own horn for a minute.  I'm coming tomorrow for the week.  Somehow I was chosen as one of "ECU's 100 Incredible Women Alumni for 2007" so I'll be having fun at the Chancellor's home tomorrow night at a fru fru reception, then having my next to last "real" meal at a luncheon Wednesday with Cokie Roberts for this honor... then at Pitt at 5AM Thursday morning! 

I've got a busy few days ahead... busy and exciting!

Great maybe we'll be in the same POD. So you are an ECU alumni?   I work at the hospital, but I'm an ECU employee.  I'm the adminstrator for Emergency Medicine.  It is going to be wierd being a patient there where I know so many people.  Oh well, i just want to get healthy. Now, I have never heard of Barrett's Esophagus or Brunner's Gland.  I sure hope this surgery helps. Well, take care and i'll see you in the halls, hopefully Friday afternoon!  Alice

I spent 5 years as Admin Assistant in the ER at WakeMed... one of those "temp" jobs where I got "stuck" a few years.  It was a WILD place to work and I saw things there I'll never see again, I hope.  LOL I'm gonna be looking for you.
