Need some more luck!!!

Here is the current status of my wls. Have ins. approval.......got a call from Dr. B's office wanting me to make an appointment....Did so.....They say he wants to talk to me before we make a surgery date.  Is this normal or am I heading for disappointment?   They are booked with surgeries  through 2nd week in November. My appointment to see him  is 2 weeks away on the 24 soooooooooooo the earlist posssible I can have surgery  would be the end of Nov. (at least I have figured it that way.) Does everyone have to talk to the Dr. before they get an appointment.  This is not the presurgey prep because I asked. Surely he has not,.. got bad news. I already have to have it done open....on a wop sided belly....which has mesh in it (caused by...being kicked by horse after c-section.....lifting things to heavy....damage from 3c-sections and hernia surgery....and from just plan old being to fat) I also know I have th possibilty of more hernias.....WHAT ELSE BAD CAN HE SAY except....no surgery. Needless to say I cried all over my DH...than bit everybodies head off.......pouted......felt sorry for myself  etc...   But I'm OK now.  Do y' al  think I should be conserned? Or should I just chill till the appointment. Duhhhhhhh ok i'm done now I guess it was my turn to shout. Flustrated Hernia girl Myrtis

Myrtis, I really don't think they would bother having you come in just to tell you no surgery.  They are very busy people as you can see there, and realistically, it would be a slot that could be used for someone who needs to get in there.......and if it's NO, then that can be done over the phone and not waste either of your times.  I personally think that by seeing you, he is going to talk with you about whatever his concern was that was the holdup, and possibly discuss everything with you to make sure you are well aware of anything that could possibly happen.  Who knows?  That's just a guess.....I saw him the first time, then at the pre-op where he gave all the instructions, then at the hospital that morning.  Think positive!!!  It will be here before you know it!! Nancy, It looks like he would have done it the same as you. Get a date and tell me all this stuff at pre-op. It just worries me. I hope you are right and I am worrying over nothing. You have my permission to laugh at me after this is over. Keep the possitve vibs urging my wls on. Thanks Myrtis

My doctor calls this the decision visit.  They want to see you one more time, go over all the complications, and make sure you really want to do this.  He's just covering all of his bases.  Don't worry, if you were submitted for approval, he's passed you.  This is for your decision, not his.  At least that's my story and I'm stickin to it. Myrtis - first...CONGRATS on getting APPROVAL!!!!  THINK POSITIVE woman!!!  C'mon now.  This is what you have been waiting for.  And Dr. B is going to take his time and skills to make sure he is doing it right.  Isn't that why you chose him in the first place?   Like Nancy said... I think this is a good thing, and a NO could be done over the phone.  He might be going over exactly how and where he is going to have to cut you because of the other issues you have.   Think positive...  You have come too far to get worried.  This is a bump.  Heck...he might just wanna see ya.  You and I might just be Loosers together!!  That would be awesome! I agree with all above. I believe all will be well and he just wants to talk with you personally before booking the surgery. If you are really worried that he's planning to cancel, call the office tell them that is your concern and you'd like to know.

Thank you girls what all of you said is pretty much what my DH kept telling me. I am  so exsited about the wls that I just know there will be a loop hold or something will back fire so i can't have it. This is going to be the longest 13 days of my life except the count down to surgery when or if I get it.  Help me keep the happy thoughts and a little pixie dust may help also.  Thanks again Myrtis And Connie we could be walking buddies at the hospital!!!!!  And I am bringing my dvd player!!!!!

then if you bring DVDs i'm gonna ask when your surgery is and room with you!!  I figure my surgery will be around the same time as yours.  Because i've heard it takes about UHC 3 weeks to decide... and then there I would be..... the end of Nov.   And you know I gotta have it then.
