In flipping shock

Well I went to the doctor this morning to see about going to eating disorder place. Wanted chapel hill. But any where for help. Out little hospital do not do gbs or anything about eating disorders.        THE DOCTOR SIAD Just eat! Does he think it is that fck simple. If it was I wouldn't be like this. I can't even stand. He said I could go to our hospital for 3 days or so and get iv fluids.......................... what in the hell..................................................

I am so sorry!  If you are having that much trouble standing then go to the hospital for 3 days and get the IV fluids.  You do need to continue to be healthy.  I know you want and need to be somewhere else...but this is a first step.  talk to him - personally I would talk to someone ELSE- while you are in the hospital about it.  Maybe then you could go from the hospital to another place.  This is just my opinion. It sounds like the Dr. that you work for recognizes that you need help. Could you ask him to refer you to someone that he thinks might be able to help you? Also, have you talked with the clinic in CH to see what would be necessary to get in and if they can recommend a Dr in your local area?

Please go get the IV fluids and some rest, then get a new Dr. who will listen to you and work with you.

Know that you will get better. This is just another bump in the road. I know that the "bumps" really hurt right now, but I know that you are strong and will get through it.

Ok Amy, It is time to take control and by this I mean you need to come to UNC and go to the neroscience hospital. You will need to start by going to the emergency room and it may take a long time but I am sure there you will be able to talk to the Doctor on call for emotinal problems. I cant spell the P word but you know what I am talking about. UNC is a public hospital and they have to admit you even if you dont have money to pay. I have a good friend who works with finacial counsling there so all you need to do is come and get admitted. I will be happy to help you when you get to the hospital. I also know Diane will be a help too. I want you to know there are people who care. Dont you give up the fight is not over yet. The neroscience hospital is in the same building the emergency room is in.                                                       Annie

I wonder if he tells overweight patients - just dont eat!

Or sick patients - just get better!

Obviously that Dr has NO CLUE about addictions, eating disorders or anything of the such... ignorance is bliss I guess. Dont let him bother you or get you down... you are better off without that Dr! Better you found out now and than later.

Amy dear, If you need me I will come get you and bring you to Chapel Hill.  It is where Annie and I had our surgery and it is wonderful.  I will be there everyday to help you any way I can.  Please let me know. Love, Diane

Annie is exactly right.  Just go to the ER at UNC.  They will admit you.  There is also a psychiatrist in Chapel Hill/Durham named Nancy Roman.  She has been a great help to my family member with her eating disorder and OCD.  But sometimes it is several days before she can see you, and you have the right mind set now.  As for this other "doctor" you are seeing.  You need to dump them right away.  There is oviously no compassion, and there is no room for that in good medicine.  Continue on your quest to find help.  You are going to get better because you have taken resposibility for your actions. Don't stop the process.

Amy, I am so sorry that doctor was so callous and unprofessional.  Good lord, I have never met you and I can see that you need help.  Just walk away from that moron.  His intentions may not be good, but God's were in having that man be so rude to you.  Hopefully it will give you the strength to walk away from him and towards someone who can and will help you! I will continue to pray for you.

Honey if you are really serious about getting yourself back to par, then please please take Diane up on her offer to come get you and take you there!  You have got some very genuine folks trying to surround you with care and love, I really do hope you accept the offer and do this for you and your kids!!  DO IT AMY!!  GET OUT OF THERE AND GET YOUR BUTT TO CHAPEL HILL!!!   Screw your doctor, you know your body better than anyone, step up to the plate and swing at a chance to save yourself!  PACK YOUR BAGS AND GO GO GO GO....
