SCARED
I think the happy/scared combination is very typical for anyone facing wls. We all want to be healthier and skinnier for sure.. but the idea of surgery is scary for anyone!!! Just have faith.. We are very fortunate around here. God is good! We have many many successes on this board.. so I am sure you can get many many words of wisdom. You can also get many prayers.
The date will be here before you know it and you will be on the loosing side!! :)
Karen -
Congratulations on getting your date. I know that I also had that feeling of excitement, rolled up with a tinge of fear ... the actual surgical date makes it real. Apart from the surgery itself, making lifestyle changes is HUGE, but you can and will do it ... and I believe you will feel like a million buck within just a couple of months.

BTW - Let me know if you still need an angel, I'll be glad to help.

Karen,
It's ok to be scared. I was scared right up until they put the mask on my nose in the OR.
I woke up and felt fabulous, I didn't have the nausea or vomiting and I couldn't beleive I had just underwent major surgery. I wasn't in any pain, just very thirsty. The hardest thing was being a patinet and letting others do for me.
Please use us as your resource, this is what were here for. I'd offer to be your angel but i'm 6 hours away from you and i'm terrible with the whole visting and phone call stuff.
Good Luck,
Jen
Karen,
It is perfectly normal to be scared right now. This is SUCH a big lifestyle decision for you! And of course it IS surgery! And we all fear the unknown. I am so grateful we have this forum to share our fears and concerns with others who have been there, done that. You will be fine. Feel your feelings and express them. You should have no problems. There is nothing we can't face together and the power of prayer is AWESOME!
Good luck and congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I live near Wilmington and suspect that would not be a good choice for an angel, but let me know if I can be of service.
Karen, I know how you feel; I'm rght behind you on the 19th. The responses here are so helppful, aren't they. We are so lucky to have all these folks to help see us through this scary time. Good luck & prayers! Alice
