Rocky Mount-Nash County?

Are there any Rocky Mount-Nash County folks on this forum? 

I live in Halifax County but have been going to Nash General for some preliminary tests and consultations for surgery.  Hopefully, Dr. MacDonald will be my surgeon.  Janice

I have also been very impressed with Nash General and Monica and the other people.  I have not met Dr. MacDonald yet- that is scheduled for Oct. 22.  I am very hopeful of the surgery and have been told that it will probably be some time in November.  I am a retired teacher (28 years of math/algebra)  but understand the need to do what you can during the summer break.  How long did it take you to have the surgery once you completed the preliminary meetings and sessions?  I only began the process in the latter part of September and hope I am not being too optimistic about the possibility of November surgery.  They told me of the Tues meetings and I hope to attend the Nov session and hope to meet you.  Keep in touch - Janice

You probaby are being too optimistic about November surgery.  I started in March and did not get everything done until July.  My insurance (State Employees Health Plan) approved my surgery about a week before the surgery.  Keep in touch with Monica and make certain that she sends the results of your preop tests to Dr. MacDonald's office on time.  This is where the slow down happens.  Then follow up with the person at Souther Surgical Associates that writes the letter to your insurance company.    If your appointment with Dr. MacDonald is the last of the things that you have to do then you might make it.   It only takes the State Health Plan 5 days to approve surgery.    Good Luck!

I originally went to Dr. McDonald and liked him very much.  He is an excellent surgeon.  He cancelled all of his surgeries at Nash General for the month of July and August.   I teach so I needed to get on with my surgery and asked for Dr. Naziri.   He was fantastic and gets so excited about your future.  I have my 3 month follow up with him on the 18th.   Do you know about the Support Group at Nash General?  We meet the second Tuesday of the month at 6:55 in the main hospital lobby.  Monica meets us there and escorts us to our classroom.  Its very informative and a lot of fun.  Hope to see you there soon.   Good Luck on your surgery.  My experience with Nash General was excellent.  The nurses all the way from surgery to recovery to the floor were fanastic.   Let me know if I can answer any questions you might have before surgery.   Paula

I'm originally from Roanoke Rapids-- spent many Saturdays in Rocky Mount for "something to do". :)  I came to Greenville for college and ended up getting married and staying here. Maybe you can join us in the Greenville area sometime. :)

My daughter and son-in-law live in Winterville--Preston Acres.  I am in your area quite often.  

I live in Rocky Mount. I hoping to have the  lapband on Nov,8 with Dr. Mann . He is in Raleigh .

I'm originally from Roanoke Rapids but live in Whitakers, just outside of Rocky Mount. Had my surgery in Raleigh with Dr. Moran. Have lost 90 lbs so far. I started  the process in December got approved the end of February and has surgery on March 1.  Have had no problems.  Keep in touch.
