I need a gentle reminder.....

I need a reminder that things do get back to normal.   I know I am extremely blessed to have had this surgery since thousands of women can't or have to fight with their insurance companies.  I am very blessed that my surgery went perfectly well,  I have not had to deal with gas and can keep down everything I have tried.   I am just tired of feeling sore like I do.  I have okay energy, but I am so tired of my abdomen hurting.  I tried tonight crushing some tylenol and mixing it with some pudding and I am know very tired so hopefully I will sleep today.  I did learn something.....underwire bras should be banished until you are healed.  I wore one yesterday for the first time (mostly wearing pjs and gowns) and I have been sore ever since and it hit me that when I sit the underwire sits right at the top of my main incision where I have a tremedous bruise (that is getting better.) I have heard that the first week is the worse and I had to complain given the blessings I have been given.  I just need a gentle reminder that things will continue to get better. Thanks, Belinda

((((((((( Hugs to you Belinda )))))))))),

Ok, here ya go....  Things DO get better!  The first couple weeks are the worse most definately!!!   I can't believe you wore an underwire, but we all learn the hard way - huh?  lol!  This is what I did... yikes!  I was told not to pick up anything weighing more than 10lbs after surgery, so what did I do?  I went to Walmart by myself the day I was told I could drive.  I pushed around a cart full of dog food, cat food, litter, and lots and lots of groceries.  I felt like I was going to die!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I had to sit down about 1/2 way through my trip -  actually I thought I was going to pass out.  I ended up leaving everything in the cart with the customer service lady, I called my Mom and she came, paid for everything then took me home.  I hope you're not as hard headed as I am...   Get feeling better soon, you WILL have more energy than you know what to do with!!!!!!  Remember to sip sip sip and follow the doc's orders, get a lot of rest and walk as much as you can.   Take care!!!

Belinda,      Yes, It definitely does get better for sure. It is hard to feel yucky and gets discouraging but time really does help. It took a good three weeks for me to feel better. I remember thinking I can't wait until this new pouch feels like it's been there forever and I feel comfortable with it. I am still working on that one even at three months. I am not sure how long that takes but each day is easier for me. I still ocassionally have bad days with food but they are much fewer and farther in between. It is still a process and we are having to retrain a lifetime of eating fast, not chewing food thoroughly etc. I guess that takes time. The pain from your incisions will be gone and will be a memory soon. Hope you are back to your new normal soon. Lisa

Dont worry it DOES get better! I still have some soreness and Im 15 days post op. I thought I was going to go crazy with the pain but the Loritab works really well and now I dont even need it. Give yourself some time to heal and take it easy!!!! it will get better!!

It gets better Belinda.  I was sore for the first week then around 10 days it got significantly better.  It will for you soon.  If you want a visitor, just holler.  I'd be happy to come over and take you for a ride if you can get into a tall suv.  Let me know. Take care. Ellen

Thanks everybody.  I did find one thing last night that really seems to give me a boost in feeling better and believe it or not it is skim milk.  I just about crave it and it seems to help make me feel better.

You are going to see dramatic improvements soon, Belinda, but one small step at a time.  Meanwhile the best thing you can do for the pain is a lot of walking and sipping (and stay away from the underwires!)
