Hi everyone... I'm doing OK... I went today to my first Post-Op appointment.. I'm doing ok I reckon.. I'm down 14 pounds in 12 days so thats a BONUS!!! But what I wanted to know was what foods did you start back incorporating into your daily eating habits once your 2 weeks were up? I'm making me another appointment tomorrow to see Alison the NUT. I just wanted to know.. from the people that have been here and done that.. Thanks all and blessings

Hi Taryn, Congratulations on your wonderful weight loss! The first food I incorporated was crabmeat.  Very soft and tender.  Followed by tilapia, because it is so moist and tender as well.  I also tolerated super lean (90% lean) ground beef in small amounts.  Also homemade chile, blendered a bit with beef and beans, topped with grated cheese. Good luck as you experiment.  You may find that some foods you used to love now make you nauseous!

Hi Taryn,      I have no input on the food thing since I haven't had surgery yet. But I DID want to say congratulations on your weight loss. How exciting for you.       I think the beach potluck dinner may be cancelled, but I hope you can make it whenever it's rescheduled...since you're right here in the neighborhood.       Good luck with your continued success. xoxo Mare

Congratulations on your success thus far.  The things I incorporated back in first were:  cottage cheese, soft cheeses, cheese sticks, peanut butter, and yogurt, then seafood , like tuna salad, soft fish, etc. Take care. Ellen

Own it all, it's yours!

After the first 2 weeks post-op I was moved to a soft foods diet... my surgeon gave a list of suggestions and I pretty much stuck to that until further out. Easiest foods for me were cottage cheese, refried beans (a VERY little they are HEAVY!), yogurt, soft cooked chicken (usually in the crock pot). I tried eggs but they were a hit or miss until I was further out.

Hi,  I see that re-fried beans are mentioned a lot...do the cause one to be a little gassy? If so, doesn't it make it more difficult to tolerate an already   persistant condition? (smile)  Just curious...

My experience was almost exactly the same as Jennifery's. I think I had wendy's chili at about 3.5 weeks out.

Go slow. Pay attention to the sensation of not being hungry. As soon as you are satisfied, stop. Be careful not to overeat.

Congratulations on your loss. What a wonderful start to the new you!

All the best,

Barb
