Hello everyone...Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday evening.  I'm at work, on my dinner break, and I have a chance to finally catch up.  NC ..you guys ROCK!  I learn something everyday!  First...MY TEETH !!....  I went to dentist this morning, and guess what I am doing.?.?!?... Grinding the heck out of them!  My back two teeth, top and bottom, are "flat" according to my dentist.  My left jaw looks like I have arthritis in it, and my gums are so irritated from the constant pressure that it could be just a matter of days before indeed a root problem could have occurred and/or I could have broken a tooth. OMY GOODNESS!  So..I now am the proud owner of a mouth splint, that I have to wear to keep my teeth apart whenever I feel like I am gripping my teeth.  crazy huh?  and sooo expensive!   Second... How long do you have to be off of motrin, ibuprofen, asprin etc prior to surgery? Third...  Does anyone have United Healthcare?  If so... how long did it take you to get approved?   Fourth...  Are Dr. B's surgeries still being scheduled around 3-4 weeks "after" insurance approval?

fifth...  I got displaced from my 9 year job!!!!!  YIKES!!!!  I will loose my job on November 30.  so....  guess what....   I am running out of time to make sure my EMPLOYER PAYS FOR IT!!!!  (freaking mode 100%)  sixth.... Connie   <------  Available for Hire....after WLS!!! Thanks Guys!  You are the Best! By they way...   is there anyone in or around the Gaston County area ?

Hey Connie, I live in Haw River.  I was told no aspirin, motrin etc. after surgery.  I also have UHC and it took 3 weeks for approval. I am so sorry you are losing your job!  I would check with Dr. B's insurance people and UHC on that.  You may have to carry your insurance out on cobra ... but check with them.  You may have to have it done before you are laid off... sorry about that. God only closes doors to open new and better ones! Hugs, Diane

Hi Diane...Thanks for the response.  I am praying everyday that I know something prior to November 30.  I think I still have time, but I know I am cutting it really close.   Thanks also for info about asprin and motrin, etc.  I thought you had to be off of it prior to surgery.  because with this teeth situation I have been popping some ibuprofen like tictacs.  there is nothing like a toothache!!  It is like it goes down to your core!  ughh.  I just wanna crawl in bed.   BTW...your hair is really cute cut that way.  Looks great on you!   Connie

So glad you saw the dentist.  Into the solution! With respect to aspirin and salicylates prior to surgery, you should discontinue them 2 weeks prior due to the increased risk of bleeding.  You can take acetaminophen, however (Tylenol).

Third...  Does anyone have United Healthcare?  If so... how long did it take you to get approved?   I have UHC however we have an exclusion against any type of WLS so I am self-pay. I agree with the no aspirin - Tylenol is okay though. Hope you get to feeling better soon! Mary

First ... sorry to hear about the grinding. My sister has the same problem and the splint has been a HUGE help. I wish the same for you.

Second ... Suzanne did a great job answering that one.

Third ... I have UHC and they have 14 business days to process your paperwork for determination. That said, I had an answer on the 11th business day. The rest of the time it was going through their machine ... Once it got to the medical director, they turned it around in a day or so. So don't even sweat the first week to 10 days, it's just chugging.

Fourth ... Can't speak to that, but I would suggest giving the insurance person at his office a heads up and they may see about working you in.

Fifth ... I'm so sorry to hear that you've lost your job. It's really hard to make a change after 9 years, but you are making bigger changes and I'm sure that this will end up being a positive change in the long run. Hang in there!

Sixth ... Network, network, network ... looks like you are doing all the right stuff. BTW, what do you do?

Thanks everyone...  I appreciate everyones answers.  you guys are great to take the time to answer me.   I called Dr. B's office today and left a message with Kim...so I will probably will hear from her next week.  (pins and needles...!!)   In response to Barbara's question about "what do you do"... because I will be a displaced employee Nov. 30.....  I am a creative document specialist that creates and designs marketing materials for investment banking presentations for the purpose of merging/selling businesses.  I am basically a Microsoft Package guru.  Powerpoint, excel, Word, Adobe, etc.  Give me data about a company and I can make a presentation to help "sell" that company to any prospective buyer.  However.... I have also managed a staff of up to 15 for 9 years also.  So...I'm also in Mgmt.  (toot toot... me blowing my own horn).... So..if anyone knows of anyone that needs an admin assistant, personal assistant, right arm....  I am your girl.  (probably January '08).  I love to do just about anything... and probably can...or learn.  Benefit your company?...without a doubt.   Anyone need my resume?  Thanks to Jen also for the PM.  I appreciate your wonderful information.  I will write you back soon.  promise!   It is almost Friday!  Who is ready for the weekend?! Connie
