I've been lurking around... but have been so busy that I barely have time to post.  In fact, right now I need to be getting ready to go shape young minds, but I just cannot get motivated.  LOL Everyone is doing so well!!!  You guys ROCK! My husband said something to me last night that has thrown me for a loop.  We were getting ready to sit down and eat supper and he was picking at me because I was eating a little bit of a baked potato.  My doctor does not want me eating potatoes, but they are very easy on my tummy and the nutritionist says they are okay in moderation.  I do not eat them everyday..  just once a week or so.  Anyway..  He was picking at me and I said that obviously I was doing something right because I have lost 74 pounds since first seeing Dr. K. on April 24th.  I told him that I did not think that the doc was going to fuss at me too much when I go for my followup on October 4th.  He said... "Well.. I think he will not like that you have lost so much weight so fast.."  I was shocked.  To be honest, I was a bit hurt too.  Of the 74 pounds, I have lost 49 since surgery.  I lost 25 before.  But hey.. I count it all.   My question is this... at 10 weeks out, is 49 pounds too much?  What do you guys think?  I am still only eating 2 ounces at a time because I just cannot eat more.  I try.. then I end up in the bathroom.  Anyway... Dean has freaked me out.  Probably for no reason... but still I need some feedback from the expert panel.

Hey Jen, I'm no expert yet but ,my  thought is that if Dr. K was thinking you are losing to much weight to fast  from your last visit I would think he would of said something . Do you feel OK?Wait til Oct 4th and see what Dr. K says.

I haven't seen him since two weeks after my surgery.  I had to reschedule my September appointment and they pushed me back to October 4th.  I am not sure what he will say... if he is not pleased with something it will be my struggle with protein.  LOL

Jennifer, I'm in the same boat as you...so busy and no time to post!  It's driving me crazy! If you're losing too fast, then so am I...I lost almost 40 lbs by week 6, but have been at a stall for the past 2+ weeks.  We are eating about the same amounts too...I can't take in much more than 2 oz or I get sick too.  Honestly, how can we NOT lose weight rapidly when we're only taking in 400-500 calories a day, plus exercising on top of that?  I think you're doing great!  If your Dr. thinks it's too much too fast, I'm sure he'll let you know. Keep up the amazing work!

Thanks Amy.. I am glad I am not in this boat alone!!  LOL  (on being busy and loosing pounds) I am totally on board with the calorie/increased activity thing.  I am lucky if I get in over 500 calories and I am walking at least 10,000 steps per day.  A couple of days I have walked over 20,000.. so why would I not loose fast?  MEN!   I will keep you guys posted on what Dr. K says.

Can he go with you to the next appt? Let him talk to your doc, it may set him at ease. He might just be worried for you. You know how husbands sometimes get foot in mouth disease and feelings come out as criticisms. (we all do it really)

He has been to all of my appointments.. but I am going alone this time.  I think he just said something that was on his mind.  He really has been in my corner through this whole thing.  He is even surviving my monster mood swings.  :)  I think you hit the nail on the head with the "foot in mouth" disease.  :)

Hey Jen, You are doing fantastic!  You Rock! There's no easy way of putting this, so I will just tell you what I know from my own experience.  Men are not as secure as they would like us to believe.  Your weight loss may be seen as a threat.  Your husband may feel you will move on when you are thin.  I know it's crazy, but it may be in the back of his mind.  I don't know him so I can't say this for sure... only in hypothesis. I dated Jim for 7 years, and he liked me "as I was."  He was against the surgery, wouldn't talk about it, didn't support me, never came to see me in the hospital, and is "busy" now. He never actually broke up with me, I just haven't seen him since.  He still calls, says he loves me.  But he's busy.  He still won't discuss my weight loss.  If I bring it up, he'll say, "That's nice."  And then he has to go.  I let him go.  Nothing was ever ugly, he is just gone. Your excitement over your weight loss may scare him.  Knowing this, try to be patient with him.  Is it right or fair? Probably not.  But life seldom is.  Just love him. Blessings, Diane

I am sure that part of his issue is jealousy.  He was even jealous of me when I was much fatter.  But I really think that he is just concerned.. and like was mentioned above.. it may just "foot in mouth" disease.

According to my doctor, at two months post op you should be eating 1/4 cup, or two ounces at a time.  He also said for the first 4 months to expect 20-40 pounds a month.  Sounds like you are right where he said.  As far as I am concerned, if you're feeling okay there's no cause for concern.  I agree with the above post that maybe it would be good if he went with you on the 4th for your follow up.  He can have his concerns addressed then.  Until then, keep up the good work, get in the vitamins and exercise!  You're doing great! Take care. Ellen
