I'm having my lap-band on Wednesday and have the choice to either stay overnight at the hospital or go home at lunchtime the same day. What do you guys think? Thanks.... Deb

Stay at the hospital.. I would..  Depending on how well things go and how you feel.. But I probably would stay just to make sure.. KWIM?

If you have the option to stay overnight I would stay. Its a lot easier to go from PACU (recovery) to a place to rest to get over the anesthesia

Stay!!!!!!!!  Let them take care of you if you have the option!  I know you'll want to go home but if I were you I'd stay just for that night just in case you have any questions or problems.

Ok, I was banded by Dr. Bauman 2 months ago.  I thought I wanted to stay and let them take care of me.  I told him this and he wanted me out of the hosp. asap to prevent me from being exposed to unnecessary germs.  Ok.......well, I went home about 1, and I am glad I did.  I am glad I had my own bed to feel miserable in.  I am glad I didn't have nurses bothering me all the time.  I am glad I had my own bathroom.  I am glad, period, because "there's no place like home."  Of course, it's your choice, everyone's different.  Hope this helps and I wish you the best of luck on your surgery.  If you need any info or have any more questions, please feel free to pm me.  Nancy

I had RNY, so I stayed for 3 days.. but I would stay the night.  The whole idea of having surgery and going home the same day freaks me out!!!  LOL  Good luck on Wednesday!!

I would stay, just to make sure.  They always say better safe than sorry.  Good luck!

Thanks Everyone, I'm going to call the office and talk to Dawn the RN and see what she thinks. I have a great adult daughter who is here to take care of me so I'm all set....we'll see. I'll let you know what happens!

I called and spoke with Dawn, the RN at Dr. V's office and she said I had made the right decision, that because of my age and general health and type of procedure I could go home if I wanted to. Also, if anything changed I could choose to stay overnight. I live 10 minutes from the hospital so it won't be a big deal if I do have to make that decision. Thanks for the input everyone - I'm as nervous as a turkey on Thanksgiving Day~!
