My surgeon required you to walk 20 mins minimum a day after you got out of the hospital. At 2 weeks post-op I was cleared for all exercise except doing any ab wor****il at least 6-8 weeks out. I did whatever I felt I could including going to yoga weekly! Mostly stuck to cardio until I was further out then started weight training.

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Extended TT, lipo, fat injections - 11/2011

BA/BL/Arm Lift - 7/2014

Scar revision on arms - 3/2015

HALO laser on arms/neck 9/2016

Thigh Lift 10/2020

Thigh Lift revision 10/2021

I started walking when I got home.  My surgeon had us walk every hour we were awake, even if it was just a small one.  I just built on that.  At one month out I was walking a mile, maybe a mile and a half.  I'm 6 months out now and walking 3 miles 4 times a week.  I am at the point now where I need to add weight training to tone my upper body. Good luck. Ellen

Own it all, it's yours!

Hi Taryn -

You are going to be sooo successful at this! I started exercising right away. Started by walking 20 mins a day (at first, it was broken up into to outings). By my 3 wk check up I was cleared for the gym w/ the exception of abs which had to wait until I got to 8 weeks to be sure all was healed up. Walking is also my main exercise, but belly dancing DVDs are fun, as well as Curves.

The research says that those who can integrate exercise into their lives while making these lifestyle changes are significantly more likely to be successful in the longterm. It sounds like you are going to be amoung those successful in the long term.

Have a wonderful day.

Barb
