Lurker out of the closet...
Although I've been a lurker for a while, I decided to jump out into the mix. I have learned so much from everyone here and look forward to a more active role in the discussions.
A little about me- I have been overweight my entire life and like many others have used every crazy, costly diet known to man. I'm a healthcare professional and even with the so-called answers still fight the losing battle with my weight. So, long story short, I have submitted all my paperwork, had the labs, done the psych eval, and have an appointment with a surgeon, Dr. Monty Cox, in Hickory, NC. I plan to go to Catawba Memorial Hospital and have a GBP (lap I hope) as soon as possible. I was hoping someone would know about Dr. Cox and his group and could chime in with words of wisdom.

Welcome Teresa! I am in Mooresville so we are not too far apart. Sorry I cannot help you with your doctor information. I am in the middle of changing - I was going to go to Dr. Alvarez in Mexico for sleeve gastrectomy but the surgeon I saw first (here in M-ville) is working with me so I can stay here. 
I am self-pay as insurance does not cover WLS in any way,shape or form. 
Now I have to change alll my arrangements! Yuck! I would not hesitate to go to Dr. A if things had not worked out differently here.
