BIG WOW Moment!
Today, I am 7 months post op from my LapBand surgery.....my- how time flies! Last week, I went shopping with a girlfriend and I took a risk by taking size 10's into the dressing room ( I was wearing size 20 in Feb.2007). The 1st skirt I tried on FIT!!!! No problems with the zipper- no sucking in the tummy- IT FIT!!! I was in awe and truly speechless.
I got tearful looking in the mirror- just so, so grateful for this gift of WLS and such improved health! I often wonder if Dr Bauman and all the other surgeon's truly know how much they bless and enrich our lives?
For all you pre-op folks and those who had surgery this week- My hope is that at 6 or 7 months post op you are as happy and healthy as I am!!!
I am blessed.....
Thanks for letting me share!
Sheila

Suzanne-
You just got to such a bumpy start post op with the re admissions and being NPO for so darn long. I hope with each passing day it gets easier for you and I promise- you will not fail with WLS.
I still, frequently remind myself that I DESERVE to be fit and healthy and I have already chosen to leave obesity behind. If that candy bar or ice cream is screaming out my name , I remind myself that
I do deserve improved health and not obesity and over time, the mantra has helped resist old habits. Me and my head have lots and lots of chats!
Most days I win......when old habits do win....I just shake it off and keep moving forward.
Take care my friend. Are you back to work this week or next?

I go back to work Oct 2 but just found out on Friday that MetLife is not approving my disability beyond sept 16. They are such lowlifes! Meanwhile I can't go back to work since the doc is only releasing me Oct 2. I will spend all of this coming week battling with MetLife I am sure.
I can tell you ONE thing: I haven't GAINED any weight since July 24th!! LOL That is one this I cannot deny! And eventually it will hit me that I am actually losing weight and it isn't because I was sick. It is just amazing what goes on in my head! LOL
Good to hear from you!
Debbie- here's a quick outline of a typical day
Breakfast with Designer Whey Choc protein powder and Skinny Cow Choc milk ( 31 grms)
or a Detour Protein Bar and a glass of 1% milk ( 23 gms of protein)
1/2 gallon of Crystal Lite Ice Tea -continously drinking through out the day
and usually 2 more 16 ounce water bottles
Lunch- often leftovers from the night before- today was a 3 ounce piece of steak, then a small banana about 2 hours later ( 16 gms of protein)
Snacks- 1 ounce of almonds ( 6gms of pro.)or Lite Yogurt ( 5 gms)or 4ounce cottage cheese =11gms( often add Kashi Go Lean Crunch cereal to yogurt or cottage cheese for more protein and much needed fiber). 2-3 ounces of prepared tuna salad ( 5-8gms of protein)
Frequently will grab a slice of pepper jack cheese for a snack if on the go....
Dinner 4 ounces of fresh fish ( yep- caught this morning) or shrimp or scallops or crab ( chicken usually does NOT do well). Tonight had about 2 ounces of wheat pasta too ( 28gms of protein with fish and pasta). Usually eat a Wendy's small chili once per week for dinner ( I add my own 2% shredded cheese- takes gms of protein to 20-21 range.
SF Popsicle tonight for snack and I treat myself to the 100cal bags of popcorn ( chewed carefully and slowly) about twice a week with thespray I can't belive its not butter
Often 4-6 ounce of milk prior to bed ( 4-6gms of protein)
As you can see- I have no problem getting enough protein- I usually hit 80-85 gms a day. And that's with my nut's approval. Hope this helps....It surprises me how easy it is- luckily I love seafood and eat it 3-5 times week! Hope this helps. I ALWAYS eat my protein 1st.
