Pre-op yesterday

Had my first pre-op yesterday, and my second one on Monday.   I have 3 weeks to go as of today.   It is strange that my pre-ops are now and my surgery is in a few weeks.    Anyway, I was able to meet with one of the "Fellows" at Duke and the surgeon who will be doing my RNY.  Dr. Portenier.    I loved him!!  He looks as if he is 7 feet tall.   But, he is the nicest guy in the whole world   Both doctors talked to me for an hour.   I had a ton of questions and they both said that they had not heard some of the questions that I had asked.   They said that I had done my homework.    I said that I was a little on the OCD side and the project manager in me can't help but come up with questions and contingency plans.   I am going on Monday for my 2nd one which lasts most of the day.   They did tell me that I was going to be in a higher risk category.  Mainly from my health problems.   I have had some really nasty bacterial infections and I get pneumonia if you look at me the wrong way.  I have several other things that put me up in the higher risk, even though I am a BMI of 39, almost 40.  So, when it comes time...I am really going to need your prayers.   I told my doc that I am going to make it through with no problems.   I have to keep the positive thoughts.   Hope you all are doing well!! CAROLINE, DON'T YOU WORRY.  THEY WILL CRANK YOU UP WITH SO MANY ANTIBIOTICS "PROPHYLACTICALLY", NO BACTERIUM WILL COME WITHIN 2 FEET OF YOU!  YOU WILL DO GREAT!  THEY WOULDN'T DO THE SURGERY IF THEY WEREN'T CONFIDENT OF THAT.  DO BE AS PROACTIVE AS POSSIBLE HOWEVER. ALL THE BEST TO YOU!
