Pre-op yesterday
Had my first pre-op yesterday, and my second one on Monday. I have 3 weeks to go as of today. It is strange that my pre-ops are now and my surgery is in a few weeks.
Anyway, I was able to meet with one of the "Fellows" at Duke and the surgeon who will be doing my RNY. Dr. Portenier. I loved him!! He looks as if he is 7 feet tall. But, he is the nicest guy in the whole world Both doctors talked to me for an hour. I had a ton of questions and they both said that they had not heard some of the questions that I had asked. They said that I had done my homework. I said that I was a little on the OCD side and the project manager in me can't help but come up with questions and contingency plans.
I am going on Monday for my 2nd one which lasts most of the day. They did tell me that I was going to be in a higher risk category. Mainly from my health problems. I have had some really nasty bacterial infections and I get pneumonia if you look at me the wrong way. I have several other things that put me up in the higher risk, even though I am a BMI of 39, almost 40. So, when it comes time...I am really going to need your prayers. I told my doc that I am going to make it through with no problems. I have to keep the positive thoughts.
Hope you all are doing well!!
