OMGoodness! I'm officially OVERWEIGHT!

I know that the rest of the world would not consider this a reason to celebrate, but you my friends know that going from morbidly obese to overweight is BIG in the best way.

I had my 3 month follow up today. All looks good. They are going to follow up with the labs to let me know if all is well there. I hope so. I nearly fell off my chair when I saw some of the others that had their surgery about the same time. I'm the slow loser in the crowd of RNY's ... I've lost a total of 47 lbs since surgery, 67 since starting this journey and 78 from my all time highest weight. Others in my group have lost in the 70 - 100 lb range! WOW!

Still, I am blessed to not be having problems that some of my peers have had. I really feel pretty well and am able to exercise regularly. I am tolerating most foods well as long as I go slow and chew, chew, chew. As most of you know, I don't dump, so I need to be cautious about choices. I have the green light to add any foods that my little heart desires within reason of course. So I'll be trying salads, fruit and vegi's with skins, etc...

I wonder what the future will hold. How much more will I lose? What will I look like when I see my group again in 6 months? I guess only time will tell.

Thanks for giving me the forum to share my news.

Barb

I would say at 3 months out with only 50lbs left to lose you are definately not a slow loser!!! Youve lost... based on your ticker youve lost well over 50% of your excess weight - bravo!!! Even the 47lbs in 3 months is excellent! Others may have lost 70-100lbs... but how much left do they have? You are so close to goal you will be there in no time! Congrats on being overweight!

Jennifer -

Thanks to your unfailing support and perspective. I didn't mean to whine when I said that everyone else had lost so much. They had more to lose to start with. One of the guys who has lost 100 lbs has about 35 lbs left to lose, but he's having a hard time with it all. I'm not and I feel blessed that the journey has been relatively gentle for me. That doesn't mean I haven't had ups and downs, but overall I am truly thankful that all has gone so well.

I know that I'll get there in my own time.

Thanks again.

Didnt think you were whining!  :-) Men do lose much quicker than us women! If he is having problems.. thats no way to lose :( I use to read a lot of people getting to goal quick but they were throwing up/barely eating and not feeling well... rather take longer than be unhealthy!! What you said made me think of something that was brought up in a support group... we tend to 'discount' our achievements instead of owning them... the lady who runs the group brought it up... we WLS patients say I lost xxlbs "but" I have xx more to lose... or I "only" lost xx lbs.... or I lost xxlbs "but" (theres that but again) I am a slow loser. It takes away from the achievement when we add a negative tag to the positive. Its something I am definately guilty of as well and work on cutting out the buts and only!

Thanks. You always shine the light in the right place. I think you are right I need to get rid of all the "but only's" related to WLS and everything else!

Congratulations Barb!!!! I can't wait til I am overweight!  LOL  Being only 5 ft. tall that is another 31 lbs for me!  But I am happy losing my 3 lbs/week.  I'm smaller than I have been in over 10 years!  And by New Year's I hope to be at goal.  God has been very good to us, especially you Barb!  To celebrate I will buy your coffee today.  See you at 6!

Hugs,

Diane
