Meeting with GYN this morning
Good Morning Ladies! I had an appointment with my GYN this morning to have the routine PAP and get on birth control before the "big day". I can't believe I'm actually going to start taking BCP as I have tried almost 4 years to get pregnant with no luck. I guess it's just another one of those things though. The appointment went well-- good to catch up with her as I haven't seen here in about two years. She referred us to a local Reproductive Endrcrinologist (RE) who told me I should "just have gastric bypass and forget about having a baby". It took my own time to come to that decision, but I'm here now and I'm not looking back. Anyway-- she said she doesn't see ANY problems what-so-ever with me getting pregnant after the surgery. I'm going to stay on BCP the standard year or so and then ttc. She thinks I will have a good shot getting pregnant with NO fertility drugs! That would just be amazing considering everything we have gone through to TTC. She said if I TTC a couple months and nothing happened, to call her and she will give me clomid and we'll go form there. She said she really didn't see it going past that-- she thinks I'll definitely get pregnant soon after trying again. That really makes me happy. It makes all of the stuff we go through worth it. I LONG for a child so much. Last night was really hard (on the pre-op diet) so it was so nice to hear this today. Thanks for listening ladies. I really appreciate the support and hope you all are doing well!

It's soooo nice to hear that your GYN is so supportive. I suffered secondary infertility and I know it can be very difficult. (Good news! Sarah is 13 yrs old now!)
I'm sure that knowing what this surgery will bring, will make temper any difficulties you face with your pre-op and post-op journey.
Congratulations on the good news.

That's great news! I had to take clomid in 82 when I was trying for my 2nd child. IT WORKED! Pregnant in no time. What is your pre-op diet? I'll be doing Optifast. Already picked it up. Have you been approved by insurance yet?
Take care, Alice

Hey Alice, I took clomid and a few other fertility drugs over the past four years or so to geet pregnant and nothing work. Clomid would make me ovulate but no luck conceiving. I also have PCOS (Polycistic Ovarian Syndrome) which they said is helped by losing weight. I hope after the weight loss I'm one of those people that can easily get pregnant. Regarding the pre-op diet, I'm on the LOW CARB, HIGH PROTEIN diet. I'm trying to get a lot of protein in, but with the way I love carbs it has been hard. I'm settling in a little better this week and have lost about 8 pounds so far! I just hope it keeps up.
I haven't been "officially" approved for insurance yet, they will do that on October 1 when I meet with the surgeron. However, when I spoke with my doctor's nurse, she said that b/c I have a BCBS PPO plan that they are in their "Center of Excellence" so it's almost a guarentee that I'll be approved. She said that it would probably be one or two weeks after that October 1 meeting that I can have the surgery!!!
