Surgery is OVER!!

Thank you so much for all the prayers and support during my surgery and now during my recovery.  Thank you also to Chareen for providing dinner to my family the night of my surgery.  I am moving around slowly and drinking frequently.  Lots of popsicles, and broth.  I try to get up about every hour and sitting in the recliner feels the best.  I hear my stomach grumbling and I am starting to itch, guess all this is normal.  Any food suggestions other than popsicles and broth?

Hi Laurie Welcome home. I dont know if you can do cream soups but there are some great ones out there you wont be able to do much but a little at a time  they can fill you up for a couple hours. Glad you have made it to the bench way to go.                                          Annie

It is never too late to be what you might have been.?

Welcome home, Laurie!  Nice to hear from you!  Are you on clear liquids or full liquids?  Clear liquids could include sugar-free jello as well as juices cut in half with water. Full liquids, in addition to cream soups could include milk, sugar free fat free pudding, custard, sf low fat yogurt, cream of wheat, applesauce, stuff like that.  Hope this helps!

Try some of the broth from real vegitable beef soup ... won-ton soup ... frechionion soup. It's still broth, but it's oooohhhhhhhh so much better than the plain ole' stuff!

You are getting through the roughest part. It'll start getting easier soon. I promise!

Laurie- Congrats on a successful surgery and welcome to the bench! This might sound crazy- but for me, I made chicken noodle soup- added milk to it to bump up the protein count and then gave all the noodles to my dogs. It just had much more substance to it, vs plain broth......It was much more satisifying. Take care, Sheila
