Hi!  I have only posted here one time and everyone was such a huge help - that I'm seeking your  help again!  I'M HAVING SURGERY!!!  WOO HOO!!!  My date is scheduled for September 20 - next Thursday!  I'm so excited!  BUT....(Isn't there always a but??!?!)  I've been on my liquid diet since last Thursday and it is SO HARD!!  I really, really, really want to hear some stories from those of you that have already been here, done this.  I have had small bites of my children's grilled chicken or a grape or a bite of cheese.  Am I weak?  Am I going to fail with the Lap Band since I can't even succeed on the liquid diet?  Every time I have a little bite of something that's not "ok", I'm afraid I'm going to do something to jeopordize my surgery.  Did any of you "cheat"?  I'm not talking dinner at Outback - I'm just talking little bites here and there.  Please share your stories with me so I will know if I need to buckle down or lighten up!  I know every surgeon is different, but I want to hear your experiences.  Thanks so much!  If I can become computer savvy enough, I'm going to update my profile so I can start making friends!  Thanks again!

Terisue -

I know it's hard and you right to be concerned, but remember that you are in the process of making a lifestyle change and you will stub your toe along the way as you relearn how and what to do. You need to focus on the positives and when you make a mistake, own up to it, resolve to do better, and keep moving forward. One of the things that has stopped us in the past is that we quit moving forward when we make mistakes. You can't make a lifestyle change over night, you will make mistakes, but you will also learn and over time put those mistakes behind you.

RE: Profile. We'd love to have you update, but you can make friends without it. Just come on the board and do what you just did. Ask questions, share experiences and give advice. You will find a great deal of support and over time I'm sure that you will develop some friendships that may truly last a lifetime.

Keep marching forward. Resolve to make good choices.

We are here to support you.

I probaly cheated twice on my pre-op diet. I am talking about one bite of a tater tot or one bite of a chicken nugget. I thought the same thing, am I going to fail?  I didn't know if I was going to have the strength to do this. We all make mistakes, were human. I just told myself after the 2nd time. Tiffany, what are you doing? You have gotten a 2nd chance to  change your life. I didn't mess it up. So from then on, I followed everything down to a T. I felt like the only way I got through this is from God. I prayed daily for Him to help me. Each day of the liquid diet goes easier and easier. About the 6th day, I didn't think nothing of it. I drank my shakes, jello, pudding, and I was content. Hang in there you can do this. Next Thursday will be here before you know it. If you have any questions, please PM me and I would be happy to help you anyway I can. I wish you the best on your surgery. Please keep us posted.......   (((((HUGS)))))                                                                                         Tiffany

Hi and welcome again! I didn't have to do a liquid diet til AFTER my surgery, but I don't think it really matters when, the discipline is the same.  You have accomplished so much already, you're already on the losing side.  Keep doing the best you can, make sure it's your best, ask God to help you, and before you know it, you will be waking up in recovery! Keep us posted!

Oh, I cheated! I have PCOS and never have a period... until the liquid diet. I was fine until both were raging for about 3 days. I was making a stir fry and caved. I've always been one that could eat the house down when Aunt Flo was around... she drives me batty.  Damn snow peas... get me every time. I didn't eat but 1/4 cup and it was on my 7th day. Needless to say, I did clear liquids the last week. Scared me to death. Even the doc laughed when I told on myself. Hang in there, it will be over before you know it. Hugs

Cheat - well that would be an undestatement for me. :) Really I didn't do bad but yes I did I think the 3rd day for some reason was the worst and for some reason after that day it went fine....I changed things up. Added berries and peanut butter to my shakes, I had different cream based soups each day to have something differnt and I did just fine.  Good Luck....this lap-band gal cheated and has lost around 100 pounds and so far I have kept it off. :)
