Lord knows I hate sharing this.....

There are 3 people that I personally know that have had gastric bypass.  One is from church (gastric stomach stapling) and 2 from work (RNY).  All 3 of them have gained all their weight back!   You know what I say to that... NOT ME!  I look at this as a stern warning that we cannot rely on the surgery alone.  This is a permanent lifestyle change.

This is a testament to our need for one another, the support group, the encouragement; our place to vent when things aren't going well.  We have each other to turn to, not EATING FOOD.

I once fed my fears, anxieties, frustrations, anger, sadness, even my joy.  How sad to start gaining weight and have no one to talk to, no support, no advice, no help.  I want you all to know that each and every one of you is SO important, and vital to my weight loss success.  You all keep me motivated, on track and because of you I KNOW I can do this.  Would I have known that on my own?  Probably yes, but with doubts and fears.  The things that lead to weight loss failure.

Couldn't do this without you all, seriously... thanks from the heart to all of you. Blessings,

Dianef

That is why I am still here. I know for every 100 people on here that don't like me there might be 1 that does like me and really care. I don't have any family but my kids and I don't know anyone that has had gbs. I only have you all to talk to. I get burnt on here but it's ok.................I am getting use to it.................

God bless you...........you are a wonderful woman. amy

Thanks Amy, You are the sweetest thing!  I do like you very much. You are so down to earth.  You don't pull any punches and tell it like it is.  I don't think it's possible for anyone to post here and not inadvertently cause disagreements or offend someone without meaning to.  Dealing with adversity is part of life, and life is (after all) a beautiful thing.  I work on kindness and patience daily.  There is a woman at work who (for some reason) irritates the tar out of me!  I swear sometimes she does or says things just to get my goat.  When I am quick to anger, I remember James 1:19   Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters:  You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger."  I focus on the qualities I admire in this woman and am able to face her sincerely in kindness. Thank you for the blessings:  back atcha! Dianef

I know quite a few people that had the surgery as well... some have done excellent... others havent. I learn from their mistakes. One thing I will say... I am thankful that I waited to have surgery because now the surgeons/NUTs understand better what us WLS patients need post-op... there is now better follow up care, support groups and websites like OH to help us be successful! Again people need to realize... what the surgeon does is 10% of your success.... what you do is 90% of your success!!!

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Extended TT, lipo, fat injections - 11/2011

Hey Jennifer, Wow I have never heard those statistics before 90%/10% .. but it sure seems to hold true.  I guess a strong dose of reality was hard for me to swallow.  I found it deeply disturbing.  Thanks for the input.  I will work even harder! Dianef
