Ok this may sound dumb but Im getting ready for the big day and have a question. While you were on the liquid diet how did you get your protien in? What I mean is I have my protein powder but I cant possibly make a shake and drink the entire thing because Im only suppose to have 2 ounces at each meal. Sooooo how did you do it? just thing like this are making me go crazy! any words of advice? LOL

Hi Darcie! You are referring to post-op right?  The 2 oz guideline is the max to drink in one sitting, but with the liquid phase you will just keep sipping away a little at a time.  The first week or so it is not so important to meet your protein requirements.  Fluid intake is more important.  But I would definitely call my surgeon's office or my NUT for further clarification.   Hope this helps!  Wishing you a wonderful day!

Protein drinks and protein powders.  YUCK.  LOL  And you end up being able to take in more than 2 ounces of shake at a time.  That is more of a liquid and goes down easier.. at least it did for me.  I have a juice type protein mix by SmartForme.. it is expensive, but easier to get down.  I also use the 3 ounce Protein Bullets that have 42g each.  I struggle getting in what I need to, but I try.  :)

For the liquid phase you will be sip sip sipping all day.. .the liquids move thru you easier so the 2oz meal will really apply when you move to soft/solid foods. Keep in mind the majority of us do not get in the required protein for the first 2 weeks... some not until a month or so out. My surgeon said to just do the best I could and make sure to stay HYDRATED! Its important to get the water in more!!!

Ok great thats what I was thinking but I wasnt sure because it made it sound like you had to get all that protein in the day you come home from the hospital LOL and I just dont see that happening but I will do the best I can!!

Thanks everyone!
