Protein Bars?

I'm looking for a protein bar that is high in protein, low in sugar, tastes better than an old shoe, and not 6 bucks a bar.  Anyone?  I eat in the car a lot on the go, and not making my protein by a long shot, maybe that's why I've been at 210 for 3 weeks now.......anyway, enough of my whining. Nancy, The only protein bars that I have found that I actually like the taste of are the low sugar Detour bars at Wal Mart.  I don't have one handy give you the nutrition facts on but I do know that they have like 15 grams of protein per bar and taste like a candy bar to me.  I buy them by the box which is like 6 bars for around $6.00.  I'm sure others will have great suggestions too!  Hope this helps! GOOD QUESTION, Nancy Noodle!  I know some folks who eat protein bars, like Sheila.  She swears by hers, but I can't remember the name.  I will look into the ones mentioned above by Donna.  15 grams sounds good! Did a little bobbing at the beach myself yesterday.  The surf was impressive!  Have fun!

Hey Nancy, I'm not sure if Donna and I are speaking of the same bars but the one I love is made by Designer Whey. It is the lower sugar version Detour bar. It has 30g protein and 5g sugar. Caramel Peanut is delicious. The Chocolate/Peanut Butter is good but very dense and may need to be eaten in 'shifts'. I have gotten mine at GNC. I haven't seen they at Wally-World yet but will keep checking as they will probably be cheaper. I get mine for a little less than $2.00 a bar because I buy them with my GNC discount.

Ditto to all of the above- I buy the Designer Whey Detour Bars  Caramel Peanut at Sams ( by the box of 24= about .80cents/bar). Here's the Nut. breakdown 180 Calories Fat 6gms Tot Carb 16grams Diet. fiber 2gm Sugars 6gms and Protein 15gms These were the ones my nut. suggested to me. I keep them in the refrigerator- makes them chewy and last longer- lil harder to chew and more satisfiying. I'll frequently drink a glass of milk in the morning at home and then eat a Detour on the way to work and will have a total of 23 gms of protein for the morning. I also will eat them mid afternoon if I'm running low on protein and I always travel with one in the car- often beats out any fast food choices. Nancy- I think you would like them- taste kinda like Snickers Bars. Hope that helps, Sheila

i think i've tried every bar out there. i have dozens of them here at the house. i haven't found one i like yet. they're either too sweet or too saw dusty.

I don't have the break down but the Power Crunch bars are wonderful. They a wafer bar, not thick or chewy light and crispy. My fav is the creamy peanut butter and the cookies and cream. WONDERFUL! I think they are like 2.00 a bar.....I agree the bars are be crazy expensive.

I tried the designer whey smores and it was like a lead balloon.  It was so much I had to eat it in spurts.  I'll keep my eye out for the other ones though, it is so hard when you're on the run, no fast food place has something I can eat on the go.  BTW, got really burnt yesterday bobbing. Nancy
