4 Weeks Out

I went this morning for my 4 week checkup.  My blood pressure was down to normal, I feel great!!!!!   I've lost 30 lbs and I believe that is good !!?? But I still can not tell when I'm full.  I have no feelings of fullness or any signs, so I still carefully measure all meals.  Is this normal, or will I eventually have a sign that I've eaten enough without overeating? Dianne~ I will be 8 weeks out on Monday...  and I still am only eating 1/4 of a cup at a time.  So, I still measure.  By my surgeon's guidelines, I should be up to 1/2 a cup per meal, but that is just too much for me. Congratulations on the 30 pounds!!!

Hi Diane -

First of all, congratulations on getting through the first month. That was the hardest part for me. Secondly, 30 lbs is incredible! I think I'd only lost about 20 when I was 3.5 weeks out, so 30 is just great!

I think it just might take a while before the sensations return. Enjoy the lack of sensation while it lasts and keep measuring. Eventually you will feel hungry and full.

I can eat about 4 ounces ... sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more. The times that I notice that I've comfortably eaten more would be when I have a small chili from Wendy's ... If it's really "soupy" I can eat the whole thing ... If it's more like a standard chili consistency, then I can only eat about half.

Congratulations again. Keep up the good work!

Barb

Congrats on your loss so far... doing excellent. Are you still eating soft/mushy foods? When you move to solids you will either  a) eat and be ok or  b) eat too much and know it!  Thats why its important early out to keep measuring. It wasnt until around 6 months out that I could really truely recognize when I was full/satisified from eating... before then it was like I said above a or b. At over one year out I find most often I am satisified with what I ate before I am full and cant eat another bite!

Jennifer,

I am still eating 1/4 cup of the mushy foods.  And I still drink a good bit of protein, just to make sure I get my 60 grams.

Thanks for the help,  I just worry that something is wrong and I'll mess something up down there in the growling pit!! Dianne
