I hope this question isn't to personal. I was wandering if anyone had problems with their menstral cycle post-op. I'm 2 weeks late. I've taken a pregnancy test, which I'm glad to say was negative. I'm 40 and don't think its time yet for menapause. What could be my problem. My husband says its just my body adjusting to the trauma.

I have not experienced any issues, but I was warned that it could happen.  I would not have worried though because I've been fixed.  LOL I think I would not worry too much unless you have other symptoms.  :)

Call your OBGYN just to let them know whats going on... but its *very* normal to experience changes post-op. Losing a lot of weight quickly causes your hormones to go all wacky. When I had surgery I had been on depo for 2 years with *no* complications. About 2 weeks after surgery I started spotting and did so for about 2 weeks. I called my OB and she said no worries, I could come in if I wanted but it was common post-WLS. I also started to experience horrible PMS when my period would have been (didnt get one on depo) and would get cramps. A few months after surgery I switched to oral BC (ortho, but I take it like seasonale - only 4 periods a year) and havent had any issues since.

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Extended TT, lipo, fat injections - 11/2011

BA/BL/Arm Lift - 7/2014

Scar revision on arms - 3/2015

HALO laser on arms/neck 9/2016

Thigh Lift 10/2020

Thigh Lift revision 10/2021

I had a horrible time with mine post op.  I went into surgery with it and it stayed with me the entire month after!  Went to OB and he did a pelvic as well as ultrasound and found nothing.  I even started BC in hopes of it stopping.  It finally did but it took 4 weeks!  Remember, your body did go through trama and the quick weight loss will impact it.  Hope that helps

Thanks for your comments. I think I'm OK. I will call my OB/GYN if this persist. Karla
