I told my mom I was going to the Duke Eye center next week and she freaked out that I need to be patient and bcbs would not pay for me to see someone else. Well I called bcbs and found out yes they would. Our finacial advisor was with me when I called and agreed that you have to take a very proactive approach to your health care these days. If I can fight for 3 years to have wls I can fight for this too. I just told my mom I cant just sit here for the next month I need to be out doing things like going back to Curves. mom is 77 and she comes from a different time. The eye doctors office just called to tell me they may have the lens I need in the way of contacts so this is good news. Tomorrow I go get my filter removed and my legs scanned for clots at UNC. When they put the filter in before surgery it was not too bad and I am so glad my doctor did this. Annie

Annie, I think your mom and my mom may be related. LOL They definately come from "the old school." Good for you for taking control of things. You'll be rewarded fro your persistance, once again. Love ya, Mare

Yep mom comes from The Old School way of thinking it drives me crazy sometimes LOL.

I keep trying to tell her things are not how they were when we were growing up. I always compare life to when I was little and my siblings and I would have lemonade stands and split the money and go to the dairy bar. Those days are long gone. Annie

You can most certainly get a second opinion. My daughter broke her foot a few years back and the first ortho doc I took her to was awful. I was told that I would have to pay 100% for a second opinion by the doc's office.. which I gladly did to get the child's foot correct. Then.. BCBS swooped on in and paid it in full. :) The doc had to send me a nice refund. Good luck and I hope things go well. :)

I like your new profile pic Jennifer. Mother called me a little while ago to tell me I am on a waiting list for the first eye doctor and to tell me I WOULD MESS THINGS UP IF I went to Duke. I told her that I am still going to Duke and who ever accomidates me the soonest that is where I am going. I could hear it in her voice she did not agree but this is my life now so doing what I feel is best. Annie
