Update...Don't we love our well informed PCPs!!
Hey there! Hope everyone is having a great afternoon! Had my 6 week post op with my surgeon yesterday..and I have lost a total of 46lbs since surgery. The number sounds exciting, but over the course of the last two weeks I have lost 6lbs of water and 2 lbs of muscle. Not a good thing!! My wonderful PCP (who administers my BP)put me on a blood pressure medication that has a diuretic in it. This has caused me to loose all this fluid over the last couple of weeks. My surgeon had a fit and then changed my medication. The worst thing is I STILL HAVE MY G-TUBE!!!!! Six weeks post op and I still have my G-Tube. He will not remove it until I stop loosing water. I have been pumping it full this morning with Isopure and Water! I am trying to regain those fluids I lost and more. I feel like such a complainer and I am thankful that I have a tube to give myself liquids when I can't drink them, but I am ready to sleep on my tummy again. The good part about yesterday is that I was able to see my Nut. I can now have MANY more options. I am SUPER excited about things like black beans, cereals, oatmeal, whole grain crackers, etc etc. I plan to go shopping at The Fresh Market this afternoon to get some healthy organic stuff. I couldn't afford to buy groceries there all the time pre-op. Who could??? But now that I eat A LOT less I am treating myself!! I am definately looking forward to my meal planning this week. Just wanted to give my update! Hope all is well with everyone! Have Fabulous Weekend!!! Candice
Hey Candice -
I'm sorry that you are still on the G Tube, but I'm glad to hear that your surgeon has all under control and is taking such wonderful care of you.
Isn't it great to be able to eat real food again?! I absolutely concur that since we don't eat as much, we need to eat well. I also have been shopping at Fresh Market, Trader Joe's, etc...
I look forward to your "I'm sleeping on my tummy" post!
Barb
BTW ... 46 lbs! I'm not sure that I'll recognize you by the time I see you in September at the Get Together.
