Well here is todays question........Once we are beyond the trial and error on what makes our pouch happy .......what type of diet do we follow with. High protein like  Atkins or South beach. Are there grams  of fat  ranges to stay in.  I know we need the 60 to 80 grms of protein and no more than 4 grms of sugars part. But what about fiber.....fat....etc. On my sheet it said to cook with olive oil which I do anyway but is it like weigh****chers with only 2 teasp. a day. Are fruits going to be ok.  Oh is it illegal to drink with a straw? I have heard that. I love my straw.    ohh and happy friday and bring on the week end! Myrtis

Hi Myrtis,

I am going to see my nut on monday morning to get many answers for your questions.

I am a label reader and now that I am recording food intake i like to have an idea of what range to stay in.

I have tried some melon with my dinner and it seems to do very well just chew really good.

I will post after my nut visit.

I asked my surgeon to be set up to see my nut on a regular base.

Thanks Kim, I like to see people smile and laugh. Laughter is good medicine. I hope some of my questions help all of us which have not had surgery yet so we know what to expect and what changes will happen in out life. Good luck with the process, Myrtis

Only your surgeon/nut can answer about your post-op diet. Since all the surgeons do the surgery differently and we have different amounts of intestines bypassed our post-op eating is dramatically different. Also, over time the post-op diet will change... mine changed at 2 weeks, 8 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and again at 9 months. Fruits should be ok, depends on what your surgeon says... some are told to only eat the low sugar fruits, some are told no fruit for 6 months. Straws, again depends on the surgeon.. some people say no, some say yes.

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Extended TT, lipo, fat injections - 11/2011

BA/BL/Arm Lift - 7/2014

Scar revision on arms - 3/2015

HALO laser on arms/neck 9/2016

It is amazing how each surgeon has a different plan and smae with the nuts. I wonder why some say no straw.... and why? Thanks for your reply. Myrtis
