Frustrated

Ok, I absolutely love the boards and love hearing how well everyone is doing. Honestly, I am happy for everyone, but I am also frustrated and as much as I don't want to, I am comparing myself to everyone. I went to the doctor today since  I had recently had some issues. Anyhow, I had been three weeks earlier. My weight loss was 4 pounds in the last 3 weeks. I had weighed at a support meeting just last Thursday (same scales) and lost 6/10 of a pound in a week. I know I should be greatful for any loss, but this is aggravating that I am losing at a snail's pace. I have not had any sugars, limited carbs, high protein, good amount of fluids. I have started water aerobics back. I am trying to jump start my system. Hopefully it will work. I know it will be OK in the end, but I guess I am thinking if I lose roughly a pound a week that it will be years befor I reach goal...lol. Anyhow, sorry if I have rambled. I needed to vent.

Lisa -

I know that these stupid stalls are frustrating, but remember that when you average your 28 lb loss over 7 weeks that you are averaging a loss of 4 lbs a week. We really have to step back an look at the bigger picture ...even though I know it's really hard sometimes. I know that the scale is going to start moving for you again soon. I can't wait to hear you shouting out your WOW moments as you see the numbers on the scale heading south again.

Hang in there dear! It will happen.

Awe honey you were in hibernation.  Go look it up and research it. I initially would loose a massive amount of weight at one time, like 7 pounds, then go a few days with out losing anything, up and down..  This went on for a while.  I get really tired before a major weight loss and then feel better.  I'm not better able to picck up on these times based on how i'm feeling.  I remember going to the dr and loosing 6 pounds from my tuesday appointment to my thursday appointment they were baffled. I was estatic though.   It messes with our hormones too.

(((((((((((Lisa))))))))))))) I know its hard- you have seen others lose massive amounts in a hurry, but each body is different. I truly feel with your recent health issues, your body is trying to hold onto the wt and then you add in the recent stresses. Hang in there- when you look back at 6 months and 9 months and then 1 yr- the big picture becomes more obvious! I wi**** was quicker for you- but I have NO DOUBT it will come and you will have the successful wt loss you desire! It was great to talk to you last night! Sheila

I am a work in progress and I am committed to progress with the work ahead of me.....

Hi Lisa, For what it's worth, my weight loss reflects the total weight lost since I first weighed in at the doc's.  The loss includes the 20 or so pounds I lost while on the low carb, pre-op diet.  I am not sure that all people start with their weight at surgery.  I chose not to, as I wanted to remember where I was when I started this journey.  And honestly, I never got weighed the day of my surgery or even a day or so before!  So I went with what I knew... Hope you are well and happy and that I will hear from you again soon! Love you,

I never got weighed the day of my surgery or even a day or so before! I DIDN'T EITHER- I JUST USED THE WEIGHT FROM MY PREOP.  ALSO, THE AMOUNT YOU LOSE DEPENDS ON YOUR TOTAL YOU NEED TO LOOSE NOT WHAT YOUR FRIEND WHO WEIGHS 300 OR 4OOLBS NEEDS TO LOOSE.  SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS NOT SURE WHY THIS WON'T SHUT OFF.

Ahhh.. Lisa.. don't get too frustrated.  My little ticker thingy counts the 25 pounds I lost pre-op.  I am counting it all!  LOL I go through times when I loose more or less.  I remember when I was on Atkins I would go a week or so and not loose a pound.. but then all of a sudden I would drop like 5 pounds.  Keep your chin up and be proud of being healthy.  Do not let the scale dictate how you feel!!!

(((hugs))) to you Lisa.  I'm so sorry you're going through a stall right now.  I know my time is coming and I'm sure dreading it! I know one thing my surgeon told me was that the more protein shakes and protein I take in, the more weight I'll lose.  Can you maybe try adding another protein shake (blech I know!)? I'm so happy to hear you're feeling better after being sick for a while.  Take care!  Email me anytime!
