Birth control options at 17 months out

hello everyone, i have to admit i have slacked on the message boards badly. I should be on here a lot more checking in with pre and post op'ers but my life has gotten so busy.

My question is this.... ( sorry guys this is a girls question) ...Has anyone who has had RNY gone back to using the birth control pill? Once i decided to have surgery i switched from the pill to the Nuva ring and here lately i have been experiencing break through bleeding a lot. I have a friend who told me that when she used the ring she experienced the same thing. I'm wondering if the pill is an option for me at this point since my surgery was 17 months ago. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I took the pill for years prior to RNY. I went back a few months after surgery and have taken it without any difficulty for about 15 months.  There are some that beleive there could be absoption issues. Both my surgeon and GYN doc say its OK for me to take the pill.  Belinda

I was on Depo when I had the surgery... about 4 months after surgery I swithed to oral BC because I had been on depo for two years... I have had no issues with oral BC and I am now 1 year out.
