Another hubby update

Hello everyone.  Sorry it's been a while since I've been able to update everyone on Denny's condition.  He is still in the hospital but we expect him to be released tomorrow.  The surgical team finally met with us on Tuesday and they want him to do 4-6 weeks of chemo and then they will surgically remove his entire colon and his rectum.  So we are probably looking at mid to late October before any surgery. They feel that the chemo will hopefully destroy the two small spots they found in his liver.  They are not that concerned with the lymph nodes at this point because the shadows there were very small and they said they will be able to remove them when they do surgery if the chemo is not successful in destroying them.  He will undergo a minor procedure tomorrow morning to insert a porta-cath so that they can administer his chemo thru that instead of having to stick him so many times.  He has had several more tests done in the past couple of days to determine if the cancer is also in his stomach as they say this type of cancer usually originates in the stomach.  All the tests came back negative!  PRAISE GOD!!!!!  So now we know just what we are fighting and hopefully with lots of prayers and the love and support from our families and friends, we can win this battle.  He is still in good spirits although yesterday and today were tough days for him.  The tumor in his rectum makes sitting up very uncomfortable and painful for him and he basically just lays in bed all day.  I had to get mean with him this morning to get him to get up and walk a little bit as I want his body to be in as good shape as possible before starting the chemo treatments which we believe will happen next week.  He got a little upset with me but he did what any good husband should do ~ he listened to his wife!!!!  His mom is staying with him at the hospital tonight and will be with him tomorrow for his procedure.  I feel guilty that I cannot be there, but our son needs me right now and I have to work tomorrow too (they are being not so nice about things at the moment).  I really needed a break from all the hospital stuff anyways but I am already missing him so much and am just trying to focus on other things to keep from going crazy.  This too shall pass (soon, I hope!). I want to take a moment to somehow put into words just what all you guys mean to us.  Thank you so much for the kind words of encouragement, your thoughts and prayers, and for those of you who have PM'd me ~ well, there just aren't words to say what I feel for all of you.  God does not give us more than we can handle and I do believe He has a plan for all of us.  I don't understand why He has chosen to lead Denny and I down this long and difficult road, but I KNOW in my heart that He will lead us every step of the way.  He has already sent all of you into our lives and to come here and read your kind and encouraging words and to feel your prayers and love for me touches and surrounds me with more peace than I've ever felt.  Please continue to lift us up and I will try to do better at updating things.  May God richly bless each of you as you all have done me. Love to you all, Donna

Donna,      Thanks for the update on Denny and yourself. He is very blessed to have such support right now. You are being so strong through all of this and I know it is not an easy path. But, like you said, you don't understand why but know it is not more than you can handle through your faith and all. Denny, luckily like I said, has youth on his side and I am sure he has a great team of doctor's and all. You guys will endure this and grow stronger together. I will be praying for you guys!

Donna -

You and Denny have been constantly in my thoughts and prayers. I am glad to hear that the Dr.s have a plan that seems conservative, yet pro-active.

I'm sure that you son will love to have you near and I'm sure that Denny is glad that you can be with him now.

I'm sorry to hear that your work is being less than sympathetic. I hope that the people you work with will be more supportive than the company itself.

Know that we continue to keep you in thought a prayer.

God bless you and your family,

Barb

Donna~  You guys have been close in thought and prayers with me.  I know that God has a plan and I also know that we are not all here together by coincidence.   I will continue to pray for you and Denny.  God bless. Jenn

Donna,      Just know how much you all are in our thoughts and prayers. Denny is lucky to have you with him. I'm sure he knows that. Be strong for your family and yourself, but take time to let go when you need to. Don't be sorry for not posting sooner. We all know how difficult a time this is for all of you. We're always here for you. xoxo Mare
