If you have Tricare please read this..
Hi everyone,
I told the ladies last night at the support meeting about travel reimbursement through Tricare. I will also post it here for anyone that was not at the meeting. If you are traveling to ANY place that you have a referral that is outside your PCM area then you will be reimbursed gas, hotel and food. Even if you do not stay overnight you will still be reimbursed your gas and food. How do you do this?
Give your hubby or wife a copy of your referral so he or she can take it to the S1 (admin) office at their command and file a travel claim. Even if you do not have a gas receipt they will base the mileage on your PCMS office to the point of travel. For instance I had my endoscopy done in Greenville so we got $176.00 back for mileage, food and lodging.
BEFORE your surgery date have your hubby or wife go to S1 and he or she will get cut TAD orders to the hospital that you are having your surgery at. My hubby has a government credit card and will be authorized to use that for his lodging, gas and meals while Im having surgery (lord willing getting the insurance to approve) This has to be PRE AUTHORIZED so make sure they do it before you have surgery. They will NOT say no!!!!
Again if you are just going out of the area for testing that you have a referral for then you do not have to get pre authorization from the S1 office. Just produce your referral and they will base it on the referral address from your PCM.
So basically in a nut shell....
Referrals for testing OUTSIDE your town= make a copy and give to spouse so they can file a travel claim.
When you get a Surgery date have your spouse get TAD orders cut to the hospital you will be at.
I hope I have not confused anyone LOL I will try to answer any and all questions
just thought I would help out my friends getting some of that gas money back!!!
