When I saw my surgeon on monday he gave me a perscription for Ursodiol twice a day for the next 6 months to help my gallbladder.

Right now i have no problems with my gallbladder and the medication is more of a prevenative medication.

Has anyone else had to take this after wls?

I have read that many doctors perscribe medication for the gallbladder after wls.

If anyone  has taken this any input would be good.

I have to take the gallbladder preventive.  About 30% of wls patients have to have their gallbladder removed and it was my understanding that this medication was to dissolve any gallstones that may occur and prevent that second surgery.  I have to take them for 6 months as well.. twice a day. Also.. thanks for the soup tip from Harris Teeter.  I bought 3 different types of soup.  :)

Yes I have a script for Actigall that I am supposed to start taking soon for 6 months as well.  Also have never had gall bladder problems (yet). Dr Harris is insisting that I stay on full liquids only for at least the next week.  I am having a hard time with it.  Who makes the frozen soups you mentioned at Harris Teeter?  My Wal-Mart didn't have them.  I tried the Campbells Soup to Go and the clam chowder wasn't disgusting.  I am trying to add plain protein to these things so that I get my protein in as I CANNOT stand the protein drinks! I see Dr Harris on Tuesday.  Hopefully he will allow soft foods then. Miss you guys!

The soup she was talking about is made by Phillips here is the link to their website, it has a location finder, which I thought was helpful http://www.phillipsfoods.com/  dancing because I can eat something other than cream of chicken soup!!!!

My surgeon did not offer anything, but my PCP had mentioned it in June before my surgery.  I am glad you asked the question, because I can mention it to my surgeon, when I meet with him on Monday.
