Carolina Weight Loss Surgery question

Hi y'all! I'm new to the NC board, but not to OH. Not sure why I hadn't found this place until now, but glad I did.

I'm a patient at CWLS with Dr. Pirello. I've completed my initial consultation, gotten all of my labwork done, had my Upper GI, my stress test, the psych eval and all.  I called and confirmed that CWLS does have everything in hand.

How long did it take other CWLS patients to get from having everything in your file to being submitted for insurance approval?

I don't want to pester anyone yet, but would like to have a reasonable expectation of wait time.

Thanks!

Cy

They are pretty quick over there.  I think (I f I remember correctly) it tooka bout a week or so after they had everything to submit, and then less than 24 hrs to receive an approval. Dr. P and Dr. B both rock.  Good luck with everything. Roberta

Roberta, Thanks so much for your reply. I figured I'd give them a couple of weeks. I see that you're over a year out. How do you like your Fobi? Cy

I'm a patient of Dr. Pirello's as well.  Once they had everything it took about a week to send it off and the insurance was very quick with it's reply.  I didn't like to pester either, so I would login to the patient site via their website and check my tasks and then emailed them if I saw something that I had done that wasn't checked off.  They usually took about 24 hours or less to email me back.   I know the waiting is the hardest part.  Waiting

Thanks so much for your reply. I've never been a good 'waiter' and it's starting to show!  Edited: Read your profile and realized my question was in poor judgement. Thanks! Cy

Cy,

Hang in there and stay on top of everything and call and ask questions.

The waiting part was the hardest part for me but after 3 years I finally got to have my surgery.

dont worry about pestering keep in mind you are welcome on OH and we are here for you always.

Also you are the consumer keep that in mind.

Annie, You're so right about me being the consumer. But, I also know the annoying person gets 'lost' sometimes. It takes a delicate balance of persistance and annoyance at this stage. Once I'm post-op, I can, and will, be more annoying if needed. lol Things are moving rather quicky with Dr. Pirrello. I saw him mid-June for my initial consultation. It's now mid-August and all of my tests and paperwork are waiting to be filed to insurance. I'm curious as to when they'll schedule my surgery once I'm approved. Two weeks out, a month out, two??? That's got me antsy; the sooner I'm approved, the sooner I'm on the losers' bench. I'm not too worried about being approved because my workplace has several people who have had WLS under my plan and I meet all of their criteria and have co-morbidities. Thanks again! Cy
