Anti Sugar Substitutes
I believe that anything in moderation is ok. I believe it's important to balance carefully the amount of sugar in our bodies. I find that anything loaded with sugar (such as lemonade or iced tea in restaurants) will make me sick with one sip! When I order "sugar free" tea, I am sure to let the waitress know that I cannot have sugar at all for medical reasons. It helps them to be more mindful of what they are pouring. Annie can attest to that! My Nut at UNC Chapel Hill recently returned from a 3 day seminar on diet following WLS. It was reported there that "dumping" occurs much less often then once thought. She added that experts have found that the recommended 15 grams of sugar or less per serving was conservative, and that 23 grams max is acceptable. However, for weight loss purposes I keep mine under 15. I don't mind occasionally using Splenda or Sweet N Low, however, I agree that it is not good for us. I prefer to balance my sugar with fruits.
As for your dumping... it's just trial and error, for each of us are different. JMHO
