September Raleigh Group Meeting
I had so much fun at our last meeting that I can't wait for the one in September! I did feel badly about not being able to talk at all with the ladies at the other end of our tables. I hope you don't feel I was being rude, it's just that you all were so far away! These meetings can only get better. I was wishing we had a bigger table (no booth) and more privacy. I was right under the A/C vent and I was freezing! Actually wanting my winter coat, and it was 90 degrees outside! I was thinking Golden Corral because of their private dining room that can be reserved, tables vs. uncomfortable booths, convenient buffet, variety of food and locations all over! There are Golden Corrals all over Raleigh. If you have a favorite location, please speak up. I am hoping we don't have to break down into groups, and give everyone a chance to speak about issues they may be having, or highlights (wow moments) of their weight loss journey, so we can get to know each other more personally, and no one feels left out. Also, I noticed some of us travel further than others. Would you prefer a later time? I am looking for a location close to the interstate for us "travelers" preferrably right off of I40. How does this sound? Please know these are only suggestions and I know it's impossible to please everyone, but I am hoping to please as many as possible. Also, is anyone interested in a group speaker? Like a plastic surgeon, or Nut? Thanks for letting me ramble on. These meetings will only get better! Fearington House has great meeting rooms also in Pittsboro off of I64. I don't know if that is closer to you???? Thanks,
Diane
Hey Wendy,
Organization is always a good thing. I did sign up at meetings.com and thank you for that link. Did you know that can be done right here on OH? It took me a while to find your sub group because of all of the categories and sub categories. What exactly was confusing using the board? Did anyone not come because of confusion? I am planning a meeting at the Golden Corral one day next month for those of us in the triad area, which is open to all that want to travel. I can get a private room at no charge and food is served on a buffet for those "late arrivals." The good news is you don't have to order the buffet, can just get coffee or a "to go" and pay by the weight. I am hoping to end the division I noticed at our last meeting and some people feeling totally left out. Everyone should be given an opportunity to speak, if they desire. This is the whole idea of a support group. I am very good at organizing events and do it often for my church. Please know that I would love to come to your event also. Again, this is not a competition. We are here to support each other. I'd like to see that happen for all of us, the best way possible. The more the merrier! I am here for you if you'd like to talk more about this. The main concern right now is location. I have found a wonderful location with good food and a private dining room (essential). I am afraid I won't attend another public seating restaurant as we had on Saturday or one that is over an hours drive from my home. I just can't because I work 7 days/week and my time is precious. We need a location with easy access off the interstate and centrally located for those of us who live in the area. Wendy, please know that I will help you anyway I can.
Blessings,
Diane
Diane- Thank you for your concern. I personally will be using the meetup.com website to look for future events. I like that events are listed into the future months so that I can plan ahead. Meetup.com has everything spelled out and I'm able to see my friends who will be attending events. Best Wishes! For anyone interested this is the direct link to the meetup group: http://wls.meetup.com/101/
Diane,
I was so happy to finally get to meet you.
I will look into the fearrington meeting rooms this week.
My email is [email protected]
((((Annie))))
Hey girlfriend! Thanks for email address. I shot you an email a minute ago. Fearrington House would be wonderful, if it is affordable. It is very clean and has private rooms that seat 12 up to 125! It is a 5 star restaurant so there should be no problem with the cleanliness. I am concerned it may be a bit pricey for some. BTW your hubby is hilarious, had us in stitches! Thank you so very much for the vitamins!!! What a true blessing and friend you are. I will keep in touch and call me if you need anything!
Love,
Diane
Diane,
I don't mind the Golden Corral idea...However it would have to be at one of the new clean facilities.I don't care about new...but it HAS to be clean. (I have buffet issues) I been to a few around the triangle that smelled bad, was dirty, and the food was cold.(actually all over NC...sometimes it's hard to find a good one on the road) I love the one in Fuquay.....but that is no where near an interstate. (just FYI) The plus side is that I really do like the setting...the back rooms are great. And I like the food choices. I would prefer not to meet any later than 10am...but I will go with the flow. I'm in Fuquay...I'm not sure how far Sanford is....I know it would be a hike for Ellen....But she would have to tell you her commute range..as I am not speaking for her........I just know she lives too far away =0(.(but I will travel there to see you Ellen!!)..Annie had said something about Hwy 55 off of 40 (is that right Annie?) Are you talking about the one at the Apex exit off of 40???...or a different one? ....I'm pretty flexible(sp) so it's all good!!! =0) ~Sarah~
Sarah,
The one on Hwy 55 is in Durham. It is off of 15/501 on the Durham Chapel Hill Rd. It is less than a 30 mile drive for at least 4 of us, which is great! I have not physically been in there, but am will to do a road trip to check out the facility, it's rating and level of cleanliness. BTW you needn't order the buffet, you can order from a menu. I'm not really going to these meetings for the food, as I do precious little eating these days. I am going for the support and comraderie of our Triangle Area WLS folks. I spoke to Ellen's wonderful 2 boys and they told me they drove over an hour, as do I from Haw River. I know they have Cracker Barrels (which may be more convenient) right off the interstate, but I don't know if they have private dining rooms. Booths are out because many have not had surgery yet and they are most uncomfortable. I'd be happiest in Starbucks! I love my coffee! However, I realize that many don't drink coffee, even decaf. :) So please don't think I am doing this close to my house, or at my own convenience. If this were true we'd be meeting at Starbucks in Burlington. Annie is looking into Fearrington House in Pittsboro. As long as we are communicating and can come up with a plan that is agreeable to all, it is all good!
Love,
Diane
Hi Ellen,
Of course I am concerned about how far you have to drive. I see you are from Winterville, however, I don't have a clue where it is. I can look it up on Mapquest just for distance purposes, as long as that is where you still live. But thank you for your flexibility and long time support of all of us. I pray all is going well for you dear.
Diane
