I am feeling so down in the dumps today.  I was diagnosed with depression when I was 16, after a car accident.  I haven't been on meds since this past June, (my grandfathers death).  I'm on Xanax .25 when needed.  But I feel like this is a deep depression coming on.  I just feel like crying.  Not really sure what brought it on.  Could have been the big arguement my girlfriend and I got into.  Hell if I really know.  I am just so gloomy.  Just BLAH............

Maybe it's some of those wonderful hormones God blessed us with! I get like that sometimes too...I just try to think of all the ways I'm blessed, sometimes that works...others I feel worse b/c I feel like I'm being a greedy snot. I think it's just human nature. I hope you and gf can work out your issue and get back on good terms. If you need to cry...do it girl...it just might help your body to feel better. I hope you have a better day tomorrow.......=0)   ** Hugs**   ~Sarah~

Dana,

While the surgery has many real advantages, one of the very real side effects ... especially, for those of use prone to clinical depression ... are depressive episodes. I find that extreme stress can bring on a depressive episode ... when you are looking at make life-altering changes and having surgery to do it, that's enough to cause a "flare-up."

The good news is that you've recognized it. Remember to keep in mind all of the positive things you will be able to accomplish through the process ... Also remember that the surgery itself may effect your meds. I had a really hard time at first, things have evened-out and eased up since.

Be sure to do some things to take care of yourself, emotionally and spiritually, while you are caring for yourself physically.

You will get through this and I'm sure that you will be healthier ... in every way.

If you ever want to "talk" feel free to PM me.

All the best,

Barb

Try not to be nervous....You are going to do GREAT!!! If you think you will be  that nervous surgery day...ask your doc ahead of time to hook you up with a little something to get you to the hospital, then by the time you get there and it all starts..you will be out like a light...and wake up a loser like the rest of us!!! Congrats on your new begining!! =0)    ~Sarah~

I have been in a serious slump myself.  I think that a huge part of what we are going through is food withdrawal.  At times I think that I am actually mourning the loss of food.  Things that go on in everyday life just seem to magnify those feelings.   Prayer helps me.  Being around friends helps also.  Just keep your chin up girl.  Those days are tick-tick-ticking away!!

I am an emotional eater.  And now that I am depressed I can't eat the depression away.  Also the withdraw of food.  Thank you Jennifer.
