Postal heat

This has nothing to do with WLS but I thought you might want to know what kind of nut you have been conversing with. As you know the temp is a hot 104 in shade. I am a Rural mail carrier and my car is not in the shade and my AC broke yesterday morning on route. Today this 53 year old mail lady rode around with a wet rag on her head.......hmmmmmmm......that did not work to good so,....... I  then rolled up dish towel with bunnies on it and tied it around my head.......hmmmmmm...still no good  so what my customers see all day is a frazzeled 53 year old fat woman , with a bunnie towel ltied around her head pouring my ice water on top of my head delivering the mail. OH my ..what a vision for our US postal service.....but the mail did get the delivered.   I hope this little story put a good visual in your heads and gives you all a big laugh on this hot ,sticky, Friday afternoon. And remember...........Neither rain , snow or sleet or hail will stop a mailman from delivering the mail but 104 degrees, humidity, and a broken AC can make for an interesting mailcarrier. Have a great TGIF Myrtis

Thanks Myrtis for doing a job that many could not do in this heat.  "Hat's off" to you!  My house is on a residential "walk route" and I often, I see my mailman leaning against the truck in the shade mopping his head.  If I can, I catch him when he comes to the door and give him a icy bottle of water.  God Bless ya'll!  Nancy                                           mail

You would be suprised as to how much he appreciates ever kind action. Shoot....I got excited over 2 tomatoes left in a box for me last week.  But I do love my job....I just don't like flat tires, snow and now 104 degree heat. Myrtis

Myrtis -

I'm sorry to hear about your car's ac, isn't it always at the most inopportune moment things happen? I hope your able to get it fixed soon. Even being out all day when it's in the 90's is bad.  My aunt retired from the postal service, she also delivered on a rural route...in NY! I think her enemy was the snow! Your  Aunt must be a pretty tough lady. Snow is the pits here in the South. We don't get much but when we do....... look out for the 4wheel drives. They may can go forward better than I but they sure can;t stop.  Have a great week end. Myrtis

The visual definately made me laugh...not at your plight, but your description. (Bunny towel - hee!) Funny you! Take care of yourself in this heat. I don't even want to walk to MY mailbox in this heat - nevermind everyone else's...geesh! God bless you, woman! Mailman  Mare

Myrtis, I wish you  could be our mail person. You have a great sence or humor. Our's is so mean, never smiles, or waves, ect. One time a neighbor was laying new carpet in their house and they had it out  in their driveway and about a foot into the road ( not a busy street) Darn he ran over it with his car, tire marks all over it. Our neighbor saw him and ran out and jumped on his jeep hood. That was a sight!!!  Well, anyways. Keep you route amused and keep up the good work.  Thanks for your story. Maureen

I try to have a smile and a good word for all my customers I see in a day. Some of them  are very lonely and I may be the only one they see. For me the  mail is just part of the job.......not just the job. I could write a book on all the strange things that have happened and what I have seen. I even saw a plane in the pond! You may have seen that one on the news. Yep I do love my job.   Myrtis
