That's what really makes this site work for everyone.

My opinion would be to go to a surgeon who focuses only on baratric surgery, this way you are not competing with patients who need spleen and appendix surgeries for medicial attention. I would only have baratric surgery by a baratric surgeon. I know many general surgeons do baratric surgery and many patients complain about how much red tape they have to go through for these dr's.
In CHarlotte where I live there are many surgeons, however, there are only 2 or 3 surgeons whose practice focus soley on baratric surgery. These are who I go to. Actually, I go to one surgeon but that's how I chose and by reputation.
Good Luck with your choice.
Isn't it funny how we are all different? I have exactly the opposite opnion. Dr. Pirrillo is a thoroughly experienced bariatric surgeon, with a zero fatality rate, and he also works in the hospital emergency room, doing trauma surgery. I like the fact that he did so, since he was so able to take care of my strangulated hernia four days later, and he already knew the road, so to speak. I didn't want anyone poking around in there and messing up the rny I had! So for me, having a surgeon who keeps his hand in other surgeries is a plus. Of course, I do not think I would want a surgeon who did wls as a tiny part of his practice, since I want someone who has had enough experience with RNY so he can handle the unexpected.
