I'm like Nancy- we both use Dr Bauman in Concord and do the 4 hr drive. He is a COE and more importantly, to me, were his stats.I would strongly recommend asking point blank- how many pts have you re admitted after surgery in the past 6 months and for what kind of problems???  I practiced medicine for 18 yrs and I have done clinical research, so I am too familar with the numbers game when it comes to stats....It was important to know mortality rate ( who and how many died  ?)= none with Dr Bauman and the most commonly seen problems and complications- again NONE with Dr Bauman when it comes to the LapBand. This is your life and your health- pick a Dr that you are comfortable with for their skills. Do not hesitate to drive farther, if it means less likely to have post-op complications!!! I realize that i don't have the option of really seeking a doc. outside my area. I have 4 children, 2 of which I'm home with during the day. It's just not practical for me to travel that distance for appts  or for surgery at this time. I'm going to have to limit my choices and hopefully I will find someone I'm happy with.
