Very disappointed
I went to see Dr Enoch today for my first appointment. He and his staff were very nice folks. Unfortuately, I was told that BCBS would not cover my lap band surgery because my BMI was over 50. He said if I lost about 50lbs that would probly bring my BMI down to the required number. Not at all what I wanted to hear.........
I'm so sorry to hear of your disappointment. I hope that things will work out for you.

If the lapband is what you really want... then go for it!!! 50lbs is a lot.. but we usually are very good at losing weight - the problem is keeping it off! When I first went to the surgeon in Sept I started to lose weight because I didnt know if I would get approved... I made a few small, simple changes... it took me until April to get approved (7 months) and over that time I went from 288 to 252 (36lbs gone!) and I wasnt even putting a huge effort into it.
I know it wasnt what you wanted to hear but be thankful you have the option of having surgery and having the insurance pay for it... its tough to wait but if you put your mind to it you can achieve it!!!
