Roller Coaster Roller Coaster  Roller Coaster  Roller Coaster    "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"   Well, my ride on the UHC rollercoaster has come to a sad end for me, my friends. Looks like I'll be self-pay, dammit! Got some serious thinking to do on that since all that has happened with some of my OH family and the complications that can arise. Surgery out of pocket? Fine. But what if something keeps me in hospital longer than the usual 2 daze? Much pondering to do. Also, there is the consideration of having LapBand, but I am massive, so not sure if that will work well for me.       Any thoughts on that from you guys? I'm right at 340 lbs. (Eeeek!) I'd hate like hell to have it done and it not work for me. Lots to consider. What is the cost difference with LapBand vs RNY? I feel like I am starting all over again. But it's all good. This was not God's plan for the moment. His timing is never wrong.       My spirits are good. It is what it is. Hubby has to have foot surgery in the next few weeks (we're waiting for date) so I gotta be "able bodied" to take care of my man, anyway. He is my priority right now.       So, I'll just have to cheer you all on from over here till I make it to the bench.    Black Cloud  Love you guys. Thanks for being here! Mare

Hey Mare,                         Glad to see someone else getting use out of the little black cloud! Hang in there..you are right...it will happen when the timing is right. I speak from experience....3 years ago I was all set to have RNY.....I had approval from insurance and a surgery date...then at the last minute my cir****tances changed. Now here I am 3 years later....with an empty band(Good words of encouragement huh Rolling Eyes ..another black cloud story)..but I'm on my way!!!!! You will be too soon enough **Hugs**  Sarah

I'm sorry Mare.  :(  (((hugs))) I used to work in the anti-fraud dept for UHC a few years ago, but I have no idea how their approval process goes.  Keep on keepin' on girl.  It will happen for you...somehow. btw...we are not too far from one another.  I'd love to get together and meet up sometime when you're not busy!  Take care.

Mare,      SO SO SORRY! You just SO deserve to have this done and your insurance should pay. But then I don't make the rules. I hope that things will work out for you. You have the greatest attitude even through this adversity! keep your chin up. Maybe in the near future your insurance situation will change. We'll be hoping when the time is right that you join us on the bench. Please still come to the get-together's regardless! Lisa

Sorry to hear your news.  I'm a firm believer everything happens for a reason.  I am in the middle of appealing so I'm going to fight for it but if it comes to self pay EEK!  There are places that just finance surgeries, I found  a few of them online.  I would try all avenues before deciding not to have it.  You have an AWESOME attitude!!!!!   Good Luck!!!
