Duming syndrome

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not out to sabotage myself and consume a lot of sugar. I'm working hard to do all the "right" things and take care of myself. However, I noticed that I haven't ever felt what has been decribed as dumping. For example, if I have milk ... some people say that they dump on the lactose in milk ... not me.

I guess I'm wondering if this intolerance to sugar is something that develops over time, or is it something you have right away ... I didn't think you'd have it right away because people can use Ensure or Boost ... But if it develops later, when should I expect it?

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Barb

Most people do not dump.... so keep this in mind if you were counting on dumping from keeping you away from certain foods. The different amounts and types of sugars in food can cause one person to dump and not another.... you can also dump off fat.  You wouldnt develope dumping over time... either you do or you dont... typically over time your tolerance levels go up so something that made you dump 3 months ago may not make you dump now. Remember thou... early out you may tolerate something one day and not the next but over time your tolerances should be more consistant. I am over 1 year out and have never dumped.

Excellent explanation from Jennifer!!!

I have dumped either from not paying attention (bbq sauce on something one time) or testing the waters like a bad child (does this really happen like they say???   Duh. . . )

You will know when it happens and you will not forget it.  You will not "test" many things after that.  I don't dump anymore because I meticulously look at labels now and if I'm out and not sure I don't eat it.  But you will survive if you do, just not at all pleasant.
