YOU GUYS PRAY GOOD!!!
Good morning Team!
Got home yesterday around 5 pm! How cool is that! Not too much pain, although the trip home really wore me out! As Sheila told you, I do have one drain (ugh!) til Monday, AND Dr Harris is keeping me on clear liquids at least through Friday as he wants to do ANOTHER leak test then (double ugh!). He said he had some concerns about the portion of the small intestine that attaches to the stomach. Said it was "congested" and he wants to double check that it doesn't leak on me. I have faith that all will check out well on Friday and am looking forward to my full liquids diet. (Never thought I would be saying THAT!)
The staff and facilities at New Hanover Regional Med Center in Wilmington were FABULOUS!!! And SO supportive! Couldn't have asked for more!
Can't complain of any gas pain, although I hear it rumbling in my colon and it is making the usual exit. I do walk and sip a lot. Speaking of walking, I did a full lap of the hospital floor at 300 the day of my surgery. Then another a bit later, but felt a bit nauseous. Then tried to do another around midnight, but began to vomit. Asked the nurses to give me a shot of an anti-emetic and that knocked me and the nausea out, and I got a great night's sleep, ready to tackle the world the next day.
Sorry this has been so long, but I did want to tell you all as much detail as I could for the benefit of those of you who are about to take the plunge!
Again, thank you all so VERY much for your love, prayers, candles, positive vibes. Keep them coming at least through Friday so we can pass that leak test and so that I can show up at Sheila's on Saturday!
You are ALL my angels!

Feeling quite well thanks! My inscisions are a little itchy and sore.. and I get tired pretty easily, but otherwise I am hopping on along. I have lost 15 pounds since the 16th. It is quite unbelieveable to not have an appetite.. be satisfied with 2 ounces of food.. and just not be so dependent on food!
You keep up the good work!!!
I'm so glad to hear that you are doing well. I continue to have you in my thoughts and prayers, wishing you a smooth recovery.
Thanks for giving us the update.
Barb
P.S. Hope to see you Saturday, but don't push too hard.
