Hubby just came in from running with his platoon. I asked him if yesterday when I had my Endoscopy did I wake up next to him or was I sitting up in the bed. I have just found out that I had a COMPLETE conversation with the Doctor and I have NO recollection of anything at all!!!! I remember waking up and someone giving me a nice big glass of apple juice...Ive had lots of surgery in the past and have never had a hypno trance like experience like this!!! whatever was in that drug is now scaring me!!!! hubby said I kept saying I was tired and I sounded a bit drunk... Im wondering if I said anything bad or mean but hubby said no I was fine... has anyone else had the same or similiar experience before? it was very strange and its kind of freaking me out!!!

Hey Darcie! I could relate to your post.  When I had my EDG done, I didn't remember anything.  I think this is what I have heard from all patients in my program.  The drug that they give you is to make you just not care. Don't be fearful though, sounds like it worked.  Hope all in your journey is going well. Take care,  Candice

LOL...  Darcie I had a similar experience...  I had to have an endoscopy done last year (4 years post op) and they used that "amnesia drug", it was strange.  I'm sure you didn't say anything bad but it is weird I know.  I like having control and not knowing what I said or did freaked me out a little too.  I got over it.  Chalk it up to drugs and laugh it off, at least you don't remember the procedure!!!

I'm glad to see you're doing well!

Darcie, The drug is named versed and as an earlier post stated it has an amnesiac effect.  Another side effect is you ask questions (1 or 2), over and over again.   Its not a dangerous drug you just dont remember the procedure, which is why someone should be with you.   So dont worry all is well.

Hi Darcie! Yes, Versed is an amnesiac drug and that is what they give most folks nowadays for minor procedures like endoscopy or colonoscopy.  They gave it to me shortly before they wheeled me into the operating room on Tuesday and I have NO recollection of even being wheeled into the OR!  Yet of course I was still conscious at that point! No need for you to be fearful.  It was doing exactly what it was supposed to do! Love you lots!
