My first day back to work. . .

. . . just about did me in!!!  Whew!!!!  I am tired and so ready for some !!!!  But it is a good kind of tired if you know what I mean.  Everyone at work was really great and some even said they could tell that I've lost some weight.  Don't know how true that is or if they were just being nice but still, I'll take a compliment where ever I can get it!!!! Tomorrow will be two weeks out for me and I am down 15 lbs and that's not counting the 6 lbs of fluid I gained while in the hospital!!  It is so thrilling to see the scale going down and seeing numbers on it that I haven't seen in quite a while!  I don't know what I will do when I see it go under 200 lbs ~ have a heart attack probably!!!  Anyways, I am only 35 lbs from my first goal of 50 lbs lost and as a reward, I have already bought myself a necklace and earring set that are two little cherries with stems.  The cherries are rubies which is July's birthstone and since July 10th is my new birthday, I thought that was appropriate.  The leaves on the stems are little diamonds and they are so cute!!!  So as soon as I hit the 50 lb mark, those babies are gonna be in my ears and around my neck!  I can't wait!! I am doing really well and more and more thankful every day that God has allowed me to have this wonderful tool to help me get my life back!  I am still struggling to get in all my water but each day it's getting a little easier.  I am doing really good with my protein and vitamins.  I don't go to the doctor until Aug. 2 for my first post op follow up and I hope he is pleased with my progress so far. Well, I'll shut up now.  Didn't mean for this to go on so long!!  Sorry!!

Hugs, Donna

You know Donna.. I just knew we had a lot in common (in spite of the fact that we chat occassionaly on here.. lol)  My birthday is July 8th!  And... I have already bought my 50 pound gift too.  I got a new pair of Rainbows.  I have been wanting some, but with two kids you know they always come first.  But for the 1st 50 I think the gift should be cool and yours sounds really cool! Glad work went well.  I ventured out of the house today.  Went to McDonald's (I had water), the high school where I work to pick up something and Walmart.  Now I am POOPED.  :)   How much water are you trying to get in daily?  I am managing 50 ounces, but it is an all day sipping spree.

Hey Jenn, Getting out of the house feels really good doesn't it? Even if we have to take a 3 hour nap to recover!!  LOL!    What is a pair of Rainbows?  Sorry for my stupidity but I don't have a clue what you are talking about!      I am trying to get in at least 48 oz of water a day.  But since I am supposed to be eating every 2-3 hours and am not supposed to drink for 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after I am finding that very hard to do!!!  I am averaging about 40 oz a day including my jello, popsicles, and protein shakes but I am trying to do better!

Rainbows are flip flops.  (Way too expensive flip flops I might add.. (http://islandsurf.com/Rainbow_Sandals__Mens_Premier_Leather_ Double_Stack__-p3303c44.html)  But I figured I was worth it!  They last for years and mold to your feet and feel like you are walking on air.  LOL   The water and eating balance is hard.  I keep watching the clock to make sure that I haven't drank one second before 30 minutes.  I just think that it will get easier as we get to be "pros".  I have not braved Jello yet.  After my experience yesterday with grits I am a little food shy.  But I am planning on yogurt with protein powder mixed in for supper.  I have been bad with the protein, but I know that will get better with time too.  You are doing great girl!  15 pounds in two weeks is AWESOME!!!

Flip flops ~~ DUH!!!!!!  Now I know exactly what you are talking about!!!  Silly me!  I think I am just way to tired tonight!!!  That sounds like a great reward gift to yourself.  Maybe I'll check into them for my 75 lbs lost milestone!!  LOL!!! I haven't tried grits ~ couldn't stand 'em pre op and haven't had the desire to even try 'em post op.  I added some protein powder to my Crystal Light Raspberry Ice this afternoon and have been sipping on that all evening.  It's not too bad.  I use the unflavored Unjury.  I really like it.  I knew I would be too tired to do much for dinner so I figured that would help me get my protein in.  I had 2 whole wheat Ritz crackers with 4 cheese cubes and about 2 oz of yogurt for dinner.  I didn't really want that but knew I had to eat something so I tried to at least pick something that had some protein in it!!  Ah, well, tomorrow is another day, right???.

Hi Donna - It sounds like you're doing great. Yay, you!  Clapping I never thought that I would look forward to going back to work. LOL  I haven't worked in almost 2 years. Not working is highly overrated. I look forward to having an able body again after my surgery. Cannot wait to get back out there! I am sure your doctor will be pleased with your progress. Keep up the good work. Mary Ann

Sounds great Donna!  Congratulations on your continued successes.  I haven't rewarded myself yet, my first 100 pounds should be here very shortly and for that I had planned a third hole in my ear.  I suppose that will include some gold earrings. Take care. Ellen

Hey Donna, Last week was my first week back to work and I was tired all week long.  My boss is wonderful though and told me that if I needed to go home early then I certainly could.  I didn't though...too much work to catch up on.  This week has been easier so far.  I'm not nearly as tired and pale looking.  Hang in there it does get easier.    Isn't the scale a wonderful thing now?  I'm down 28 lbs and am starting to feel confident that this is really happening to me.  I was scared to death that the surgery wouldn't work for me.  I think I'm losing slower then others but that's okay, I don't have a thyroid so I expected slower.  But, I am losing!  I can feel it in my clothes everyday.  Isn't it all a miracle? I love your reward to yourself...rubies and diamonds how nice.  I'll have to tell my husband that whole idea of a birthday and a re-birthday!   Good luck with the rest of your week.  E
