Tommorro morning is my Endoscopy

It seems like just yesterday I was having lunch with Linda, Mare and Nancy talking about my endoscopy. I check in tommorro morning for this procedure up in Greenville. I am really really really ready to get it over with!!!! Keep your good wishes for a easy IV start... I have really bad small tiny baby roller veins and everytime I have had a IV it takes a few different people to get it started and REALLY hurts!!

Darcie, Good luck tomorrow.........It will be so good when you're all done with all the tests.  I have those kind of veins too.......sometimes it helps if you tell them in advance.  Let us know how it goes- drive safe!!! Nancy

Believe me thats the first thing I do is tell them how junky the veins are and also the best place (based on past surgeries) to start the IV. Thanks for the good luck!!!

I have an Endoscopy on Friday and I wasnt aware that they had to start an IV? So what does an Endoscopy really entail? I asked someone and they said they just stick something down your throat to check for ulcers is this not true? What is the purpose of the IV? Thanks in advance for all your responses.. Rahsheeda

WHAT IS IT ABOUT US FAT GIRLS????  I HAVE ITTY BITTY VEINS TOO!  THEY HAVE USED A CHILD'S CATHETER ON ME WITH SOME SUCCESS.  A SUGGESTION THAT WAS MADE TO ME (LIKE FOR TOMORROW!!!!!!) WAS TO "OVER HYDRATE" THE DAY BEFORE THE PROCEDURE SO THAT YOUR VEINS WILL BE NICE AND PLUMP.  WHICH MEANS DRINK ALL THAT YOU CAN TIL THEY WON'T LET YOU DRINK ANY MORE. ALL THE BEST TOMORROW SWEETIE.  YOU'LL DO FINE.  THEY GIVE YOU VERSET WHICH SENDS YOU OFF TO LALA LAND.  YOU ARE STILL AWAKE AND RESPONSIVE BUT YOU ARE NOT AWARE OR STRESSED AT ALL.

I did not have an IV for my EGD.  Maybe you wont have to have one either.  Good luck.  That thing was a cake walk... and I was not sedated!!  :)

Yes I will have an IV.. I cant eat or drink anything after midnight and I just got my call from the GI lab about the IV... I warned them ahead of time LOL they have to use whats called a Butterfly needle (childs needle) on me too Suzanne.. thanks everyone for writing back to me, its keeping me calm and giving me hope!!!!
